Backstory.
Abandoned as a child. Burnt by abusive orphan caretaker. At 9 ran away and resorted to theft. At 12 was caught robbing the circus, where the circusmaster Percy was impressed by his skills and had Jean work for him. At 15 he was gifted weapons which he still has now. The circus began loansharking, Jean made sure people payed up. He fell in love with Falia, a dancer at the circus who had also had a bad upbringing.
He got into a fight with a man who he had killed the father of, and in that tavern Falia sacrificed her life to stop him being killed (crossbow shot intervention). He killed the man and the circus recovered Falia’s body while Jean was in shackles.
