The flooded Spire
Long ago, the Swamps of Il-Zur were not the murky, flooded wasteland they are today. Once, this area was a lush and thriving forest, home to various creatures and a haven for elven settlements. It was a time when the land was vibrant and full of life, and at the heart of it stood the magnificent tower of Archmage Lorian.
The transformation of Il-Zur into the swamp it is now began with a cataclysmic event, shrouded in mystery. Some say it was a dark ritual gone awry within the tower itself, while others believe it was a curse from a vengeful spirit angered by the wizard’s experiments. Regardless of the cause, the result was undeniable. The land started sinking, and the waters of a once-distant lake began to creep in. The forest drowned, and the tower, once a symbol of power and knowledge, was marooned amidst the waters.
The Flooded Spire is shrouded in ominous tales and legends. Locals whisper about strange, ghostly lights seen in the tower’s upper windows during the darkest nights. They speak of haunting melodies that echo from the tower’s peak, luring curious souls to their doom. Many who ventured too close to the tower never returned, disappearing into the murky waters without a trace.
The most mysterious aspect of the Flooded Spire is the complete absence of any visible entrance. No door, no windows, no openings of any kind. The tower appears impenetrable to the naked eye. It’s said that countless adventurers, treasure seekers, and scholars have attempted to unlock its secrets, but all have failed.
