The Oy'uz
This is the name of the tribe that created The Abattoir and who operates it to this day. According to tradition, they were not native to the Vulgar Gulch and were a migratory Confederation that invaded many millennia ago. The other Vulgar Tribes still consider them Invaders despite them settling here for centuries, apparently this is due to the fact that The Oy’uz used to dominate and lord over the other tribes and so they are seen as tyrants. They are still called ‘The First Invaders’ by them due to this bitter memory. To escape their tyranny, the Indigenous tribes would flee into the Canyon and mountain walls. There something happened which lead to them discovering Ambrosia.
Using the power of Ambrosia they destroyed The Oy’uz Confederation and then enslaved the survivors, splitting them among the tribes. They were then harvested and kept alive as sacrifices for Ambrosia. Cattle more or less. When the first Settler communities arrived to the Vulgar Gulch years later, namely the so called Sonne Cultists, The Oy’uz saw their chance for freedom and offered to help them learn how to process Ambrosia themselves if they would help The Oy’uz. They ended up becoming part of the founding of The Old City: Carcassonne.
The Oy’uz had developed a culture of paranoia due to their years in captivity and wanted a permanent homeland for themselves instead of living in the city they just helped build. Thus they retreated into The Abattoir where they’ve remained to this day. As long as they provided Hoarders, Ambrosia, and Blood they were allowed to do whatever they wished within its walls. After the rise of The Kuvava Blood was no longer needed, so they’ve further retreated into isolation as their contact with the outside world has dwindled as their importance to the City wanes.
There exists a small faction within the tribe who wish for The Oy’uz to become a Migratory people once again and spread their influence and skills across the multi-verse. Known as Migrationism, this was a once much larger ideology but after the exile of Mutual Exchange they’ve waned in support and influence.
