Letter from Gustav to his children
A letter found in Durst Manor
My Children,
I wish I could o what all father do and tell you that monsters aren’t real. But it wouldn’t be true.
Life can create things of exquisite beauty. But it can also twist them into hideous beings. Selfish. Violent. Grotesque. Monstrous. It hurts me to say that your mother and I both turned into these monsters.
It sickens me to think what we’ve put you through. There is no excuse. I despise what we’ve become.
I’m sorry I failed you. I’m sorry I brought Walter, that retched thing, into this world. Even if you don’t believe me, I love you.
Goodbye
