A Check Up and Memories
During the night at Ralathen‘s childhood home, Jukli sleeps restlessly hearing faint whispers and distant wailing from spirits, as though they are trapped. When the party wakes up, they all gather downstairs and have breakfast, but Jukli heads out early to visit the graveyard. Wandering around the flowery, hedge-enclosed graveyard, Jukli finds a place to sit and meditate to communicate with the spirits as he normally would. He is met with silence, a graveyard devoid of spirits, which is not the usual vibe Jukli is used to. Puzzled, Jukli goes up to one of the grave keepers who’s trimming a bush and inquires about the lack of spirits around the graveyard. The grave keeper is a bit puzzled and confused by the question, but answers with a suggestion that all the spirits have been able to move on to the River Styx since Rosebury is such a great place.
Back at the house, Ralathen has called for Herman to do a check up on Emery. Herman comes to the house and does some tests on Emery and suggests that she is suffering from one or a combination of the following issues: workplace stress, lack of exercise, or anemia. Princey denies that the workload has been too overwhelming, so Herman suggests Emery should eat more leafy greens and try to get out and do some exercise. Attempting to help, Ranoa uses some magic to detect evil or magical effects that may be causing Emery‘s condition. Ranoa finds no evil or magical effects directly on Emery, but does notice a large magical effect that seems to be all around the town that is of the necromancy school of magic.
Throwing around wild conspiracies about the origin of the necromantic magic, the party headed over to Buttercup Blooms. The town was bustling and as the group got to the market district, there were crowds everywhere. Passing through the crowd, Ranoa noticed the shine of a scale catch his eye as he passed a hooded figure. He found the obscured face familiar and turned to pursue the figure, but unfortunately the hooded figure got lost in the crowd. The party eventually piled into the store and met Maris and Poll who run the store. Ralathen chatted with Maris and asked for the “usual”. As Maris was gathering the order, the party talked to Poll and Fergus asked him about the Fading Lily. Poll was inquisitive about why they were asking for it and admitted he didn’t have any currently, but he did used to get them and, in fact, Ralathen‘s father showed him where since he is from the Shadowfell. Poll then asked more about what Ralathen was up to and if he was using his sword a lot. Satisfied with what Ralathen explained they had been up to, Poll indicated that Ralathen‘s father had left him a Fading Lily to give to him when he was “ready”. Poll led the party up into a private room upstairs and produced the glass encased Fading Lily, which was glowing with deposited memories, and gave it to Ralathen. Overwhelmed with his dad’s antics, Ralathen stowed the flower to possibly deal with later. The group headed downstairs and Maris handed Ralathen his bundle of flowers and they left.
Ralathen headed over to the graveyard and visited Clarabel Roseburn and Jhaeros‘s graves. Spending time at each and leaving flowers/cleaning up the gravestones.
Towards late afternoon, the party gathered at Annah’s Brew and Stew and had some drinks. Jukli perused the crowd and attempted to gather some information about anything weird going on out in the fields, but mostly came up empty, if you don’t count making new friends.
