Abraxus IX
Abraxus IX is a relatively new celestial body. Constructed by the mining guild only a few decades before The Clone Wars, Abraxus IX is a series of captured asteroids, tethered together by pressurized space elevators, and corridors, to aid in the mining of Hyper-Matter veins that existed within the asteroids themselves.
After the mining guild had tapped the most resource rich asteroids of the belt, it was mostly abandoned save for the odd independent unlicensed mining ventures that remained to pick over the scraps, until the CIS used it as a refueling and resupply station for it’s outer rim fleets. The spartan mining facilities were redesigned to store war materials, and a small system defense fleet. As the war ended, and The Galactic Empire began it’s occupation of The Outer Rim it’s low gravity, and ample storage space made it an ideal platform to support the shipping of commodities through The Baldec Sector.
It now remains as the economic hub of The Baldec System. It’s of inter-connected asteroids now serving as refueling station, and a commodities market. Hundreds of Dura-Steel structures blanket the asteroid belt, interconnected by subterranean tunnels, and pressurized corridors. Storage facilities, “open air” markets, corporate branch offices, deep space mining platforms, and more can be found in it’s labyrinthian complex.
