According to Jane the thief, Omaric took over the guild after he went north and suddenly returned with strange powers and strength. Jane mentioned that the group was initially just a thieving guild that generally just took from the rich nobles and made dodgy dealings with others for coin, but under Omaric, it turned into stealing from anyone and everyone, including bullying and sometimes led to bodies in alleyways.
