Three Spired Temple
A small area in the Quoraska Jungle appeared on Amria’s map as the party travelled through the jungle and the party decided to seek it out, as it overlaps with a strange calling Applethorn felt when he passed by previously. Upon reaching the ruin, you discovered it was simply the doorway to an ancient temple beneath, a temple of Tharizdun, according to Amira’s previous research. The rooms were trapped and fortified against intrusion, though most of that seemed to be the work of Ioun scholars who attempted to deflect the temple’s original purposes as much as possible. As you journeyed deeper and deeper into the temple, it became clear that this purpose was to keep some dark power at bay, with apparent sacrifices to shadow creatures lurking in the dark.
In the second to last chamber, you found a ruined library left from the priests of this temple long ago which revealed that the power beneath is contained by the armor of two champions, one of the sea, and one of the land. This chamber also had a variety of treasure locked off the side. Entering the chamber where these champions lay, Della, Applethorn, and Amira touched their coffin and each recieved a vision of their greatest desires coming true and fueling their desire to open the coffin.
Eventually doing so, taking the armor and weapons for themselves, caused the coffin to disintigrate and the rifts in the floor to begin to widen as a huge, winged pit fiend pulled itself up, a chain around it’s torso and waist, screaming in Abyssal about returning the Oblivion to the Prime Plane. Closing a gate fortified by Ioun’s scholars protected you and strengthened Applethorn’s attack against the fiend, but you opted to run instead of fight (though Amira recieved a promise from her god that he would face the demon instead). Returning to the surface, you resealed the temple beneath the ground and, despite the tremble of the ground below, continued to journey North.
