Main Quest
Ravenna was an acolyte of Tyr in Larondell. The steward of the temple there found documents hinting that Ravenna had been involved in performing rites of the Cult of the Grey Man, an ancient enemy of the temple of Tyr. Long ago a battle had been fought near Larondell and the cult was thought destroyed. Because of this Ravenna‘s Involvement with the cult was seen as a great betrayal.
Ravenna was punished in a horrible (but not actually specified) manner that left her alive but in torment and with her soul at risk. A year later, further evidence was discovered with proved that the original documents had been falsified, and that Ravenna was innocent. The temple of Tyr would like to right the wrong done to Ravenna, but would like it done quietly in order to protect their reputation.
- Discover who falsified the documents and why
- punish those involved
- Track down Ravenna
- Save her soul
Update: Talking to Lorien Yost indicates the group should investigate the original documents at the Town Library.
Update: Investigation at the library indicates that Marrik Fordham would have more info on how to save Ravenna.
Update: Documents found at the library indicated that something was trying to destroy incriminating evidence. A partially destroyed letter was found to contain “Yost is willing to accept the terms they have offered to correct the mistake they have made”.
Update: Documents and clues indicate that someone in town (Zaris Narim) and attempted to turn themselves into a lich. Clues from a book about a Boneclaw seem to indicate that perhaps they failed and the Boneclaw was create instead. A Boneclaw will seek out the most evil creature in the area and enslave itself to it.
Update: While rescuing Jayla, Yost froze up at the site of assassins we were battling. His answers about the occurrence were evasive. He also was very unwilling to leave his temple. More and more certain he is hiding something.
Update: Asked Gharrus Khorvin about the vampire castle and it’s history. She said no one had moved in since the vampire was killed. She also talked about the party that was involved. Said it was a shame. Lorien Yost and Jensen Windmeer seemed ok, if a little wierd. But Mira Gorman had killed herself and Marrik Fordham had disappeared. This caused me to review the notes more in dept (out of character discussion) and realized that the wording delivered by the spirt in the library was much more specific/helpful than original noted. The spirit had actually said something along the lines of the group being responsible for what had befallen Ravenna. And that the spirit had killed herself over it. And that Marrik Fordham was being held in the vampire castle because he was against it, but they could not kill him.
Update: We investigated the castle. We were unable to find Marrik, but it turns out the castle is currently under new management. Ravenna herself has been turned into a vampire and the current occupant of the castle. She is not looking for any assistance in undoing her current affliction and is instead busy plotting her revenge against Yost and anyone involved with the church of Tyr.
Update: We finally convinced Yost to talk. We killed the “listeners”, spies who were watching him, and he spilled the beans. He was unhappy to do so.
Short version, when the Temple of Tyr fought the Cult, fragments of evil power were released into the land. A number of those fragments were absorbed by evil creatures, enhancing their powers. These creatures formed the Council of Bones.
The vampire that Yost killed was a member of this Council. The evil power was released, but combined with other remnants of power and formed “The Reaper”, and even more powerful creature that Yost and his group could not defeat.
The cult (which had survived in the shadows) approached Yost and made a devil’s deal in which they would help create a new member of the council to re-absorb the evil power and prevent The Reaper from forming. They only had to damn the soul of an innocent acolyte (Ravenna) to do it. Yost and his group agreed, feeling they were choosing the lesser evil.
Update: Jensen Windmeer informed us, unintentionally, that Marrik Fordham 1) knew what happened to Ravenna and how to reverse it 2) the location of a book detailing the members of the Council of Bones 3) the location of the hideout of the Cult of the Grey Master and 4) if all members of the Council of Bones are defeated/removed, the Reaper would not form again.
Update: Raided the castle and broke Marrik Fordham out. He appears to have been turned into undead. We have not had a chance to interrogate him yet.
Update: Based on interrogation of Marrik Fordham and further research in the library of the vampire castle we now know how to undo what was done to Ravenna and who the members of the Council of Bones are.
During the ceremony turning Ravenna into a vampire, her soul/life force was remove and stored in a gem/crystal. Destroying it should transform her back to her original state.
The 4 members of the Council of Bones are Ravenna, The Shadehill Specter, Zaris Narim (the Boneclaw) and the ghost of Gavin Tarramor. Only 4 members and we have already encountered 3 of them.
Update: We have retrieved the crystal that will return Ravenna to human form. Either we must slay her in it’s presence or she may voluntarily submit to the transformation at the risk of dying permanetly.
Update: We have retrieved the ring of alignment changing hidden in Windmeer’s keep for use upon the child to give us a chance to kill the boneclaw without harming the child.
