Saga Amberfall
"The quill is mightier than the sword"
Saga is a young, shy, nerdy and highly intelligent female dwarf from Mirabar, a sizable human city in the north with a large dwarven population below it, living in underground caverns. She comes from a big family of strong hearty dwarfs who (barely) managed to teach her to wear armor and use a few weapons, but it quickly became clear that Saga’s interests were more of the mind, to the disappointment of her father. Mother dear was very happy though, as she didn’t want her youngest daughter to go out adventuring like most of her siblings before her.
Saga got a job as a librarian at a local magic school on the surface of Mirabar, where she discovered she had quite a knack for magic herself. Aldur first took her under his wing, and when Master Tefiri came to visit Aldur in Mirabar, he invited Saga to come study under him in Waterdeep. Aldur joined them on their journey, and Tefiri began to teach Saga the true magic of the spellbook itself, starting her path in the Order of Scribes.
Saga is book smart but naive when it comes to “real world knowledge”. She loves to cook and bake and to talk to her familiar Baldur, who is a very good listener. Her goals are to prove herself: to her teacher as a good student, to her father as a worthy Dwarf (without having to use a warhammer to cave someone’s skull in), to her mother as someone who is just as capable of going on adventures and kicking ass as her brothers, and to her siblings as someone not to mess with anymore.
Relationships
Father: Ragnar, cleric of Clangeddin Silverbeard, the god of war. A strong man with lots of tours of duty into the Underdark. A proud man who loves to tell tales of his fights and shows his scars to anyone who’s even remotely interested. Distrusts the humans in Mirabar, dislikes the surface. Disappointed in Saga for not being strong and fierce, and even more for taking lessons from humans, away from Mirabar. Would give his life for his family without even thinking.
Mother: Berglind, a soft-spoken caring women and a damned good cook. Pretty but not the sharpest tool in the shed. She felt attracted to the strong Ragnar, safe in the knowledge he’ll protect her.
Together they had 6 children: 3 boys (Sigurd, Floki, Árni) and 3 girls (Thora, Emma, Saga). Saga’s definitely the odd one out and never really felt at home between her rambunctious siblings who were always wrestling, fighting, training with arms and armor.
Falla Shannardanda is Saga’s roommate at the Academy, and her only friend. Falla is a human from Calimport.
