Audry Moonmusk was captured after a raid near Loudwater and sold as a slave to the son of Daggerford’s Duke.

Years and years later, Audry took a bold step and made a deal with Duke Maldwyn himself, threatening to make it public that the Duke’s family kept slaves and he was not in charge. Lady Morwen (the Duke’s sister) backed up this scheme, which helped a lot. The deal was as follows: All the slaves would keep quiet about being held as slaves. Audry would keep on serving the Duke’s family (serving as a spy for Lady Morwen). All the slaves stay in exchange for a small monthly fee and are able to quit after one year. And finally, Bear’s freedom when he became of age. Duke Maldwyn agreed, afraid of being disrespected by Waterdeep’s Lords. His son was privately punished and exiled. Never would Bagrod threaten the Duke’s wealth.

The Moonmusk family was treated in general with contempt, but since Bear’s mother made a deal and demonstrated some positive qualities, she earned some respect in the community. In his youth, Bear was brought up harshly. Audry was a barbarian and a savage considering love and attention. A few things stand out, however. She taught Bear about surviving in the wilderness and showed the inner strength, totem and spirit of a Blue Bear Tribe barbarian. Also, Audry told about spiritual contact with Beasts.

When Bear was of age and Since Bear was the strongest member, he thought he controlled the family. Which is largely inline with his tribe accidentally. His mother saw this differently and let the guards throw him out on the street.
