Peter Zonnestraal
Warrior by heart, inventor in his mind.
69-year old war veteran with a missing lower leg (he fabricated his own prosthetic leg), which he lost when on patrol up north, on the way to Neverwinter by a troll attack. Now 25 years later, he lives and works in a small general goods store / repairshop / inventions store in Waterdeep (downtime activities). He frequents the inn of his son near his shop to have a beer with his drinking buddies.
Fun facts:
- Carries almost everything he owns in a small bag around his waist. This invention was his second infusion.
- He worked 20 years on his first infusion until he got it right, he hopes Oghma will grant him the quickness of mind to complete his final masterpiece before artrosis sets in.
- Whenever the opportunity arises Peter takes his chance to take a nap. An old man’s treat.
Past resume:
- 0-14y: worked in my fathers shop, it were harsh times, our family was poor. There was no time for education and I had to learn by doing and failing a lot.
- 15-35y: to earn more money my parents decided I was to enlist with the City Guard (armed forces). On a dreadful day I was on patrol up north, on the way to Neverwinter. We were attacked by 2 enormous trolls and my leg got smashed, to prevent my death a surgeon had to cut my lower leg off. I was sent back home and though that was it for my life. I was in my deepest moments I found solice in Oghma and his teachings. I can help myself, I can work, and I can help people, and I can be of worth to society.
- 35-40y: worked in fathers shop
- 40-69y: father died and me and I took over the shop and expanded it with the making of prosthetic limbs. I taught my son Ames in the trade of woodcarving and tinkering. And it is now he is sufficiently trained I hope to find new adventure in my life.

Religion: Oghma, the God of Knowledge.
After I lost my leg I was sent home. In a deep depression I found Oghma. In his teachings I found the wisdom to take control again over my misfortune and turn it into my strength. I was smart and had a little savings from my years in the military and bought a shop in Waterdeep. I started to repair broken equipment from others and found myself to be a prodigy in learning these techniques. I also learned the common languages (Dwarvish, Elvish and Gnomish) in Waterdeep as to accustom more races and to further my goals of succeeding my store The Blue TOES (Trinkets, Odds and Ends Store). I run the store with my wife Maddy (Madelyn) and my son Ames. And I sell all I can lay my hands on and repair, sharpen and fix whatever needs attention. But as a specialty service I fabricate prosthetic limbs for war veterans.
As a passtime I study archeology/carthography to further aid my life-long quest of finding new technology / magical artifacts (both in honour of Oghma). I am affiliated with the The Map House, the Surveyor’s, Map & Chartmakers guild justnorth of castle Waterdeep on Waterdeep Way. Creeping in dungeons to find these items is not yet part of his persona. He is not reckless, but he is determined to venture forth and explore dungeons he comes across.
