28 Eleint 1492
An Aasimar cleric arrived at a small hamlet of 6 or 7 houses called Cliffmount, sent by her order to return a haunted soul. She inquires with an old lady about what haunts this place, learning that a skeletal horse with a rider has entered the village twice at night, apparently searching for something.
A group of four adventurers wandered along a road towards the location of an ancient battlefield, where elves fought against an invading force from the sea four to five hundred years ago. As night fell and a storm rose, they approached the same hamlet and saw the ghost (a “phantom rider”) materializing. This was where their paths crossed:
Casmos the Magpie: A Kenku Sorcerer. A large magpie with a huge beak and friendly orange eyes. Always hooded, always curious and asking many questions. On them is a small leatherbound book that seems important to them.
Eilmiris (“Mir”): An Eladrin (“Fey Elf”) Barbarian. Apparently not an elf of the material plane, but a Fey creature with golden eyes. It’s not clear what their closes are and what’s part of his natural body, all is in yellow, orange and a little bit of red hues. They are welding a fey glave covered with ornaments and sylvan runes. Their behaviour is hectic, always looking left and right. He hopes to connect the battlefield to something that lies in his past.
Eldara Moonwhisper: An Aasimar Cleric. A bit larger than an average woman, with pale skin, grey hair and topaz eyes that glow in the dark. Wearing shiny scale mail.
Granny Greyleaf (“Gigi”): A Gnome Rogue. An older lady around three feet tall, with purple grey hair and tanned skin with a slight greenish undertone, grey eyes that are joyful and sparkly. She wears a robe in earth tones with lots of stitchings and little stuff like brooches and pins. Apparently a small friendly older goblin just looking for adventure.
Lyra Moonfall: A satyr Wizard. Her top half looks like a young woman with a big head of curly, messy brown hair, through which two goat horns can be seen curling back on the head. Her legs are that of a goat as well. She wears a rough dark green woolen coat, that looks like a blanked flung around her and she wears a pair of very ill-fitting pants in an attempt to hide her legs. No shoes.
Eldara talked to the rider and learned that his bones have been taken from their resting place and he was bound to search for them until they were returned. Eldara promised to look for them and bring them to his grave “Ser Alabin van Traford“ at the local graveyard.
The group introduced themselves to each other, and the rider took off, apparently bothered by the awkwardness in the air. While Casmos and Eldara discovered they both worship the moon, the group went to the local inn “Crossed Bones“. Mir stayed behind to talk to the ghost and was rewarded with a long speech about his death and some elven racism.
Inside the Inn, the group immediately understood the origin of its name: The interior was completely decorated with bones, from the wall art to the chandeliers. After some food and drinks, the group talked to the owner. Lyra tried to pocket a fork but is stopped by the owner. Gigi thus pick-pocketed one just to spite her.
As the group interrogated the barkeep, he claimed that he found all of the bones in some caves on the beach, definitely not through grave robbery. Lyra, unhappy with how the conversation is going, casted “Friends” on him and got him to produce the bones the group was looking for. Unfortunately, the spell lasted only one minute after which the barkeep became very hostile and shot Lyra in the shoulder with a crossbow. Mir then ripped it out of his hand and Gigi gave him a good smack on the shins, making him lose his will to fight. He eventually handed over the bones and Gigi even convinced him to give the group room and board for their troubles. Everyone except Lyra, because Gigi holds grudges.
Casmos took the bones because they were shiny and went to build a nest in the staples (Lyra slept under the roof there). Eldara followed him and convinced him that he could keep the bones that night, but the next day they would go and hand them over together.
