We talk to the plant creatures, and Eveneem convinces them to take the team to ‘The Mother’, rather than forcing us to go. Only one of them seems to have any intelligence, with a single human or animal eye. Eveneem leads the team, following the plant creature. It’s a long walk, an hour through the swamp.
Eveneem talks to the monsters, asking if they are worshippers of the Mother, or if they are the Mother herself.
They respond in unison, “We worship the Mother, we are the Mother, we are one.”
She then asks if they are being brought to the Mother as guests…or prisoners.
They respond in unison again, “You will see the Mother.”
The team carefully picks their way through the swamp for around an hour. The surrounding trees seem to clear ahead - revealing a massive amount of ruins. It seems like this was once a city, with massive thorny vines growing out and around from a water well, up and around the buildings. The plants continue on, leading the way through the once finely appointed streets, now caked with grime and muck.
A winding staircase carves its way up a hill, the plant monsters continuing on up the stairs. At the pinnacle of the stairs is a massive set of gates that opens into an enormous garden. As we approach, the thorny vined gates open on their own. We continue following the creatures, eyes open and taking everything in. Stonework statues are scattered around, but they have been covered in shrubbery and vines. We stop at a massive fountain that has a tree growing in the middle of it. Sitting next to the ledge of the fountain is Wilo (the priest). He talks to us, saying that he was disappointed we missed afternoon service, but he was glad we were there as the “Wild Mother would be with us shortly”.
The clouds part overhead, and when the moonlight hits the dead tree in the fountain, it erupts and grows and sprouts bright red fiery leaves, and small wild buds. Three heads show up on the tree’s surface, carved into the bark. Wilo bows to her, and says he has brought her the adventurers, as promised.
We enter a tomb and we see the name on a marker indicating that it is the tomb of Ganex, who was a compatriot of Alyxian.
Eveneem has a vision of the laughing scar and then we all get a vision of the death of Ganex, who we now see was corrupted into the laughing scar.
Eveneem approaches the sarcophagus of Ganex with apprehension and as she draws nearer, the necklace she wears begins to be pulled towards the Ruidium encrusted tomb.
We all receive a vision of Eyaluna in its prime: a gorgeous, immaculate elven city. We see Alyxian, Ganex, Perigee, Zalakass, and a fifth, unidentified figure addressing a council and warning of impending danger. Our vision snaps forward and we see the aftermath of a huge battle.
We see Alyxian, Zalakass, and Perigee helping the wounded, with Ganex missing, and the mystery 5th figure ordering soldiers to pillage. The vision shifts to Alyxian confronting the mystery figure about looting. Alyxian kills him. Alyxian calls to his friends, but while Zalakass and Perigee come to him, Ganex does not, and Alyxian realizes he is dead.
We snap out of it, and take hands to pray together, feeling a sensation of peace and calm spread through the area.
As the feeling courses through us, Wonders feels the teleportation tablet shift slightly in his pouch, a silent message that we are done in this place.
Eveneem says one last prayer for peace for Ganex, and feels for a moment, the touch of Avandra at her side.
Wonders teleports the group back to the library of the Cobalt Soul in Ank Harel, face to face with Question.
