The Intruder

The party is traveling south from Reinmont to Rosebury. On the road, the party chats about little things that have been stewing on their mind. During one night, Fergus dreams of Betsy making tea for him with some purple petal flowers; she sets the tea in front of him and the dream fades. On the second day of traveling, Ralathen noticed bunny ears off the trail following them. At the next stop, when the party started setting up camp, Ralathen attempted to lure them out with a juicy tomato and succeeded in choosing the juiciest one that Zammy has ever seen. Upon being caught, Zammy explained he was tasked with following the group and observing them by an organization looking to recruit them. He explained that the organization does things for the greater good and he needs to see them excel in combat in order to properly recruit them. Oddly, Zammy seems to recognize Fergus and think that he was a part of the group at some point. Fergus attempts to play along, but does not remember being a part of a group like the one he is describing. The party lets Zammy join them for the rest of the trip.

As the party is about a day’s ride out from Rosebury, Jukli begins looking for a place to camp out when he notices someone calling for help down a side road. He brings the cart to a halt and the group proceeded on foot cautiously towards the noise. Ranoa casts a spell that dampens sound around the group, allowing them sneak up and get within sight of a small hut with a female goblin calling into the house; attempting to get whoever was inside to open the door. From inside the house, a voice continues to shout at the female goblin to leave and that she is not his wife. Jukli and Ralathen take the opportunity to sneak closer to the house, with Jukli going around the back. Peeking in, Jukli gets a glimpse of a male goblin inside the house freaking out. Jukli and Ralathen then approach the goblin outside from both sides flanking her to figure out what was going on. As Jukli reaches out to move the goblin away from the house, he notices a spirit for a moment occupying the space of the goblin. At that point, the female goblin becomes hostile and various spirits inhabiting the vegetation around move forward to collapse on the group, seemingly summoned by the female goblin. A fight breaks out and the group fights exceptionally, taking out all of the summoned spirits as Zammy watched from a ledge. Ranoa eventually grabbed the female goblin a cast a spell which ousted the spirit controlling her. The goblin then collapsed from exhaustion and the goblin that was inside the house finally emerged. Upon seeing the female goblin he rushes over to her aid explaining that it was indeed his wife, but something was wrong, and profusely thanks the group for ridding her of the spirit. They go on to explain that the spirits around the area have been more active than normal lately. Zammy joins the group again and is very impressed with their abilities in combat and agrees with Lavidia Luck that the group more than qualified for the organization he’s apart of. When Zammy mentions Lavidia Luck he curses at himself for revealing that. He says he’ll go into more detail the next day about the organization and formally invite the group to join. The group then sets up camp and rests for the night.
