The Belmont family had humble origins in the region of Elturgard, circa 1331 DR. According to oral history backed by some written record, the founders of the Belmont Merchants Consortium were a group of adventurers - hired swords that had made progressive gains by delving into ruins and catacombs long forgotten by civilization. Their latest mission was sponsored by Scornubel, at the time only a medium-sized member of the Merchants’ Guild.

The Belmont Family retains majority shareholder control of the Consortium and its historical dealings in luxury items, frontier supplies, and guarded caravan services is continued to this day.
