The Red Shields was a strong merchant organization, previously a strong mercenary company, that protected caravans leaving Scornubel as well as serving as the city’s army. The Shields made regular trading operations to Amn, Neverwinter and Waterdeep.

Bromthar Helmbrind was the founder of the Red Shields. Through his efforts, he changed the Shields from a mercenary company to a strong merchant organization that protected Scornubel and its trade routes.

Mitfat was the leader of the military aspects of the Red Shields. Under his leadership, the mercenary company served as the official army and defense of Scornubel.
