Stolen from Zaghund Hammerfist and written in Thri-Kreen
Description: This arcane tome is bound in stone and wrapped with vines of gold-threaded ivy. The pages shift slightly when touched, as though the book itself is alive with magic. The ink glows faintly, pulsing in rhythm with the reader’s breath. Below are the spells inscribed within, from the most practical to the most dangerous.
Stone Shape
Level 4 (Transmutation)
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Touch
Components: V, S, M (soft clay)
Duration: Instantaneous
You touch a stone object of Medium size or smaller or a section of stone no more than 5 feet in any dimension and form it into any shape that suits your purpose. For example, you could shape a large rock into a weapon, idol, or coffer, or make a small passage through a wall.
Insect Plague
Level 5 (Conjuration)
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 300 feet
Components: V, S, M (a few grains of sugar, some kernels of grain, and a smear of fat)
Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes
A swarming cloud of biting locusts fills a 20-foot-radius sphere centered on a point you choose within range. The area is difficult terrain, and creatures take 4d10 piercing damage on a failed Constitution save, or half as much on a success.
Legend Lore
Level 5 (Divination)
Casting Time: 10 minutes
Range: Self
Components: V, S, M (incense worth 250 gp, which the spell consumes, and four ivory strips worth 50 gp each)
Duration: Instantaneous
Name or describe a person, place, or object. The spell brings to your mind a brief summary of the significant lore about the thing you named. This lore might consist of current tales, forgotten stories, or even secret lore.
Conjure Elemental
Level 5 (Conjuration)
Casting Time: 1 minute
Range: 90 feet
Components: V, S, M (burning incense for air, soft clay for earth, sulfur and phosphorus for fire, or water and sand for water)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour
You summon an elemental of challenge rating 5 or lower in an unoccupied space you can see within range. The elemental is friendly to you and your companions for the duration. It obeys your verbal commands, and without them, it defends itself.
Otto’s Irresistible Dance
Level 6 (Enchantment)
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 30 feet
Components: V
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute
Choose one creature you can see within range. The target begins a comic dance in place, shuffling, tapping its feet, and capering. The target has disadvantage on Dexterity saving throws and attack rolls, and other creatures have advantage on attack rolls against it. The target can make a Wisdom saving throw at the end of each of its turns to end the effect.

Components: V, S, M (mercury, phosphorus, and powdered diamond and opal worth 1,000 gp, which the spell consumes)
Duration: Until dispelled or triggered
When casting the spell, you inscribe a harmful glyph either on a surface or within an object that can be closed, such as a book or chest. Choose one of several effects (Death, Discord, Fear, Hopelessness, Insanity, Pain, Sleep, Stunning) that will trigger when a creature enters the symbol’s area or opens the object.
Power Word Kill
Level 9 (Enchantment)

Range: 60 feet

Duration: Instantaneous
You utter a word of power that can compel one creature you see within range to die instantly. If the creature you choose has 100 hit points or fewer, it dies.
True Polymorph
Level 9 (Transmutation)
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 30 feet
Components: V, S, M (a drop of mercury, a dollop of gum arabic, and a wisp of smoke)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour
You transform a creature or object that you can see within range into a new form. An unwilling creature must make a Wisdom saving throw to avoid the effect. The transformation lasts for the duration, or until you lose concentration, and if you maintain concentration for the full duration, the transformation becomes permanent.
Time Stop
Level 9 (Transmutation)
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self
Components: V
Duration: 1d4 + 1 turns
You briefly stop the flow of time for everyone but yourself. No time passes for other creatures, while you take 1d4 + 1 turns in a row. Actions that directly affect other creatures or objects they are wearing or carrying immediately end the spell.
Shapechange
Level 9 (Transmutation)
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self
Components: V, S, M (a jade circlet worth at least 1,500 gp, which you must place on your head before casting the spell)
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour
You assume the form of a different creature for the duration. The new form can be of any creature with a challenge rating equal to or less than your level. You retain your personality and Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma scores, but otherwise gain the stats and abilities of the new form.
