Javelin of Lightning
Wondrous Item, Rare (Requires Attunement)
Description:
The Javelin of Lightning is a sleek, elongated spear crafted from an unknown metal that crackles with energy. The shaft is adorned with intricate runes and etchings, glowing faintly with blue and white light, resembling arcs of electricity. The tip of the javelin is sharp and aerodynamic, designed for perfect throws.
Properties:
- When thrown, the javelin transforms into a bolt of lightning, streaking through the air toward its target.
- On a successful hit, the javelin deals 1d6 piercing damage plus 4d6 lightning damage. The target must succeed on a Dexterity saving throw (DC determined by the wielder’s spellcasting ability) or be stunned until the end of their next turn.
- After being thrown, the javelin magically returns to the wielder’s hand at the start of their next turn.
- The wielder can also cast the Thunderwave spell (save DC equal to the wielder’s spellcasting ability) as a bonus action once per long rest, calling forth a shockwave of thunderous energy.
Lore:
Forged in the heart of a storm by an ancient order of storm clerics, the Javelin of Lightning was created to channel the raw power of the skies. It is said that those who wield it can command the fury of the tempest, bringing both awe and terror to the battlefield. Legends tell of a hero who defeated a mighty dragon with a single throw of this javelin, turning the tide of an entire war.
