Sorel is a high elf wizard from Everska. Originally an an anthropologist from one of the Everskan university, she is interested in the history of the Netherese Empire, and she was thrilled when they were brought into a time period where she was alive. Unfortunately, due to the danger inherent in travelling to Netheril now that the empire is back, she is no longer able to acquire funding from her university for expeditions and has taken out several loans to fund them herself. She has been working to increase her own strength to possibly go alone, as well as to increase her likelihood of convincing others to go with her.

Sorel is from a strict family, and while her studies in anthropology are acceptable due to it being an academic field, they are embarrassed by her fervour for the culture of a hostile nation. They often attempt to convince her to change careers.

Sorel is divorced. Her two adult children, a son and daughter, lived with their father after the separation. They do not speak to Sorel much.

While on her travels, Sorel met the Blades of Clairvaux and travelled with them for a while. She left when she was offered a job by Baron Dyfni of the Dalelands working as a researcher. Thrilled that someone finally wanted to pay her to study Netheril, she accepted.
