The Shadowfell

Otherwise known as the Plane of Shadows, this realm serves as a counterpart to the Feywild where it is a bleak, desolate place full of decay and death. Legend has it when the Negative Energy Plane collapsed into the Elemental Chaos during the Spellplauge, it mixed with all of the other Inner Planes. Shar, the Mistress of the Night and goddess of darkness, was said to have captured some of the death energy and channel it into the creation of the Shadowfell.

The sky is a starless vault, the ground is dry and cracked, color is ripped out of every creature and object to be slowly melted into the grayscale landscape that surrounds it.

The realm is partially controlled by Dark Powers, an unknown mystical force that have the ability to pull complete regions into the Shadowfell as well as corrupt individuals/groups, sometimes transcending the authority of deities to do so.
