Turning In Quests At Reinmont
After defeating Mevara, the group returned to the cart with a few new trinkets and the container Mevara was sucked into. Lavidia Luck thanked the group profusely and said she would let her people know what a great help everyone was. Everyone piled in the carts and started heading towards Reinmont, which was very easy as the blizzard cleared up resulting in clear skies. As the group approached Reinmont, they were met with a large city completely surrounded by towering double walls. They were let through the first wall, then stopped by the guards for brief questioning, but shortly let in after presenting their delivery notice.
Once in the city, Lucy Luck took the group to the Military Barracks to complete their delivery. There they met the Captain of the Guard, Gwendolyn, and convinced her to pay the full price of two carts full of weapons for one cart. She mentioned the need for new weapons is not because of poor quality, but because of their constant fighting against the Frost Giants, which appears to be a never ending struggle for land and resources (Northern War). This delivery completed the Missing Shipment quest.
The next stop for the party was the Steelspark Forge to obtain their reward for completing the Forgery Forge quest. It was here that Lucy Luck and Lavidia Luck bid the party goodbye and headed off to do their own thing. Arriving at the forge, they found the owner, Lonebear, helping Aconite Iirenfel forge a sword. After an awkward interaction between Aconite and Ralathen, where it was learned that Aconite has been apprenticing for a few months here, Lonebear went inside and gathered and handed over the payment that Jack Drudar had instructed him to. Ralathen inspected the sword Aconite was working on and found it to be unusually finely crafted, something he didn’t think Aconite was capable of given the amount of time since last they spoke.
Ready for a drink after the forge interaction, Ralathen suggested hitting up a bar, so the party headed over to The Stormy Dog. Here they met the goliath owner, Keeneye, and her four-legged waiter, Rusty. The place was fairly full, there were two drunkards at the bar that harassed Ralathen, and various others about enjoying the music from the bard on the piano. Ralathen grabbed a couple bottle of liquor and the rest of the party got a round for some a much needed break from the whirlwind of travel they just endured. Then one of the guys at the bar comes over and harasses Ralathen some more, resulting in a little bar brawl where Ranoa laid back and enjoyed the show as Ralathen pummeled the drunkards, Jukli started playing a tune on the table and knocking things over, and Fergus was told to stay out of it. Keeneye was pretty excited to cash in on the insurance money due to the broken chair and tables and happily kicked out the drunkards when Ralathen was done.
Refreshed by some alcohol and exercise, the party headed over to Onukora’s Institute of Wizardry to visit Reginald and Winona Dasso. Fergus found Reginald first and introduced him to the group. Reginald explained school was going well and there were only a few weeks left until finals. He has also picked his major which is Abjuration magic. Ranoa asked him if he knows Winona Dasso to which he responds he does because they have a couple classes together and points her out in the crowd. Ranoa then runs over to Winona with the group in tow and showers her with compliments and candy. She describes loving school and trying to learn everything. She’s taken a keen interest in Transmutation magic due to how Ranoa helped their sister. While this conversation is happening, Ralathen notices a lone hooded figure weaving through the crowd and recognizes them as Violet Roseburn. Ralathen runs over to get her attention and she stops to talk. Violet explains she was sent to the school by her parents, but is actually going to different classes than what she is supposed to, she’s learning about Illusion magic. Ralathen strikes Violet‘s nerve during the conversation causing here to attempt to draw a dagger. Ralathen attempts to grapple Violet, but a rat jumps out of her hood onto Ralathen causing him to loosen his grip giving Violet time to disengage and dash away. As she’s running away, she challenges Ralathen to a duel the following day at 7pm and disappears into the shadows.
The group gathers themselves again after that strange interaction and prepares to be led around campus by Reginald and Winona. First stop, The Living Library.
