17 Kythorn 1491
The Party then heads out to the surface amidst heavy thunderstorms and makes a note with Amidor where a few of the pylons that power Endelyn Moongrave’s arcane contraptions in Motherhorn are located. They then heads to the Korreds, the weather having calmed a bit.
Argantle of Shale appears after Mell obnoxiously informs the area of the party’s success. Yndrus approaches and offers the wish stone and fills him in on the machinations of Endelyn.
A truce is brokered between the Brigganocks and Korreds, the latter being issued orders by Argantle and who then disperse to sabotage Endelyn’s pylons.
While The Party is out already, they decide to focus on lighting the beacons for the elf prince. Amidor answers the party queries about who the Perytons are and what the party is likely to face when trying to protect the beacons.
The beacons are located around a lake, eight columns of rock, with rough hewn steps to the tops of them. In the distance, they see a torch climbing the steps with five flying antlered creatures heckling the torch bearer.
The party ultimately decides to opt for an attempt at diplomacy and stride up to the errant creatures. Phee attempts to mimic their throat warbles and waves as they all turn and stare at the party. Amidor is out at this stage, and only Morgort is willing to proceed.
Some chatter ensues with the Perytons, though they don’t speak back at the party, mostly stare and one preens. Mel picks out their leader, then the party decides to seek out the elf prince instead. Mel is immediately star struck, thinking fondly of all her time at fancy royal courts and gets distracted with thoughts of arriving as a hero at the home of this lost, beautiful prince after saving him.
More chats, eventually the party settles around a small fire Phee has created for making tea for story time from the prince. Interestingly the flying creatures don’t mind this flame.
The prince was at war with a dragon terrorising his kingdom, but it would be his doom. Endelyn offered him a year in the Feywild in exchange for defeating the dragon and surviving the battle.
Unfortunately, now that he’d been told the future, his only way home is to light the beacons to find a safe path. But the Perytons keep snuffing them out.
The prince fills the party in on the lore of the Perytons. Humans transformed by a curse or magical experiment. Alternatively, another tale speaks of a scorned wife cuts the heart out of her surprise meta for a spell. She was eventually caught and hung, and the creatures that feasted upon her corpse became the first Perytons.
Mell morphs into a pretty elf maid and flirts at the prince.
Alongside Alagarthas they ascend to light a beacon and the second it goes up in flames, the Perytons screech and swoop for an attack.
First enemy to go down is at the hands of Morgort and her glaive. Ultimately the party is victorious and sets up camp to watch the prince finish his pilgrimage of the lighting of the beacons.
Upon the lighting of the last beacon, he plunges into the water into an image of a beautiful forest. Mell is distraught; she wanted a job! And potentially a conquest. Dammit! She lets him go mournfully and with a quiet promise that she will find him in this other world one day.
Returning to the mines of the Brigganocks, The Party find the Korreds removing the imposing statues from the entrance as they had been placed there to unnerve the Brigganocks.
Phee asks for a finger from the statue and thankfully isn’t misinterpreted as asking for a finger from one of the Korreds. She gets her wish.
As the party rests, Mell refreshes her memory on how to manipulate the magical hair that Endelyn has stolen to manipulate her arcane contraptions.
Molliver of Valor’s Call fills the party in on important info. The League of Malevolence is in cahoots with the hags. They say Gleam is helpful somehow, and after some gentle encouragement she says her sister is being held there and she knows the layout of Motherhorn and goes on to sketch out a rough outline of a few buildings.
Endelyn is most often seen on the upper floors, the main floor of the building being a large stage and amphitheatre. There’s a downstairs where perhaps cells are located.
The place is run by goblins and darklings.
League of Malevolence has several members. Kelek, a sorcerer and leader. Skylla -a warlock-, and Warduke, not very bright but a formidable swordsman. And one last member, Zargash, a worshipper of Orcus the Demon Prince of Undeath. Zarak who the party has met, a rogue.
