The Adventure Begins
This clear day in Farinnel proved to be historic, as a group of people came together to begin a fateful journey.
Mia, the girl from the stacks, learned of an approaching Planar Equinox, where the planes of existence will be align and the barriers between each will be at their weakest. The head librarian turned Samuel’s inquiries away, saying that Mia’s parents were interested in this as well, and other tenured librarians have taken over their research interests so there’s no need for Samuel to give his attention to it. He asked Mia to assist with his research, given that her parents were researching it before, and that might pull suspicion from him in the stacks.
Findrel, of the Alessian elves, ventured into the town for his goal of uniting the people against the growing logging industry that fuels the expansion of the town into the Alessian woods. There, he met with Mia, to discuss the town’s opinion of logging and expansion, agreeing to go with her to the casual hangout spot of Sundown Respite to hear from the townspeople themselves.
Before leaving the library, they translated an unfamiliar message from Syngorian which read: “those who seek nature’s greatest gifts may find their secrets here within; but without the key and keenest mind, even the most valiant will find their end.” This message was the thing that sent Mia’s parents on their last journey, but neither of these forming friends know where it came from. Findrel suspected that the only place Syngorian could be found would be an elven tomb that populate the forest from ages past. The closest to town is Erolith Zumrel‘s, 5 miles outside of Farinnel.
Meanwhile, JD, a rogue with a mission, also traveled to the library, wherein he spoke with Samuel about his family history and the mystery of a sigil his mother left behind. Though Samuel couldn’t find anything on his father’s many aliases (he said), the only record of his mother showed that she moved away 21 years ago, while there’s no record of JD being born here. What Samuel was able to identify was the familiarity and similarity to Syngorn runes within his mother’s sigil. The nature of the language means he’d need it translated by someone in elven society.
At Sundown Respite, JD and Dawn, a monk in need of focus, started their shifts and joined Mia and Fin in their discussions of logging, the town, and elven culture. JD offered a drawing of the sigil to Fin, who identified the components of the design to be a map between planes. Similar to the lodestones that transfer Syngorn from the Material Plane to the Fey dimension, this symbol draws a path between this reality and the Fey, but without more detail, there’s no way to decipher it.
With several of the party needing more information from the Alessian elves, they decided to gather tomorrow morning and journey into Alessia and find their answers.
