Viza
Viza had the worst luck. The youngest of five, was born in the heart of Skophos. Growing up he wasn’t as large as his older brothers or even his older sister and as a result was tormented by them endlessly, after all only the strong should survive under Mogis’ eye. Despite the physical beatings and mental torture he endured growing up he was able to join the ranks of war.
Viza was put on the front lines to fight, being no more useful than fodder against various monsters. However somehow he survived battle after battle and was thus rewarded and promoted to the position of General’s chore bitch. A grueling job that promised more pain than praise. On one occasion while sharpening axes Viza knocked over a spear rack cutting the heel of one of the captains, it was weeks before he walked normally again.
So when the plan came down to invade Akros with the trump card of the pits the Generals knew who to send in to retrieve it. Deep under the Pyramid was a deep hole where Skophos kept its most troublesome warrior. How much time had passed since he was let out no one cared to remember, after all he had one purpose, to kill. A purpose he did extremely well, almost too well, going as far as killing allies in his rages, it was better that he wasn’t allowed out for too long. Viza was given a rope and told not to come out until he had brought out Thyrogog or until Thyrogog ripped Viza apart and ate the pisces.
Viza was indeed unlucky, given a job that would mean certain death, in the past it took a whole squad to get Thyrogog out. For someone as small and weak as Viza this was the end and he knew it. Though for once Viza’s luck was about to change. Viza climbed down, but not to the very bottom, he stayed a few feet out of reach of Thyrogog and sputtered out a plea for his safety.
“Please don’t kill me, we need you for the invasion” he sheepishly got out.
Thyrogog jumped and swiped at Viza missing by mere inches.
“Why can’t you just come out without killing me, this invasion will be different. I’ve heard there’s an agent on the inside of the polis.”
Thyrogog paused and looked curiously at Viza almost like the beast understood language.
“He’s a human, slaughtered dozens, Mogis has blessed him with power like he did for you.”
Thyrogog looked at Viza for a long time. And in a deep animalistic voice said
“I will kill him”
Viza, seeing his chance at life said.
“Well first we need to get you out of this pit, but I can’t do that if you kill me, so I’m going to climb down and get you out Ok?”
Thyrogog nodded in agreement.
Several weeks past Thyrogog had taken leadership of the armies, even recruited a few tribes of Cyclops and other monsters of the lands to his growing army. Absolute strength will do that to even the monstrous Cyclops. As for Viza he was prompted once again to the position of Thyrogog babysitting, when Thyrogog hungered Viza fetched him meat or risked becoming the meal. When Thyrogog started beating soldiers for fun, Viza turned away his bloodlust speaking of Mogis’ new favorite champion. This continued for a few weeks while the armies waited for Spring to come, Viza walking on a knife's edge only a moments away from a violent death by an angry Thyrogog.
Nothing lasts forever though and Viza’s streak of good luck was about to end. It was 12/15/42 early morning and Viza began his day like any other making sure Thyrogog hadn’t killed everyone overnight, only two dead today, followed by cleaning the blood stains. Tending the horses, reporting to the Generals, cleaning the latrines, and sharpening weapons once that is done Viza could eat breakfast after serving the Generals and Thyrogog of course. While cooking Viza couldn’t help but look up to the sky and wonder how much longer he could last, when something caught his eye. A small dot hovering high up in the sky, Viza thought it was odd but continued about his day. Hours later a bit before noon Viza was preparing lunch when he gazed up once again and saw the same small dot, but this time he decided to let one of the Generals know.
The General at first dismissed the small dot in the sky until he also looked up and saw that Viza wasn’t lying. Gathering up the other Generals to discuss this object above. Viza was to wait outside their tent and keep his mouth shut. Viza was growing impatient, after all he still needed to finish prepping lunch or else he would be due more beatings for messing up, and these Generals were taking too long talking about whatever was in the sky. He looked up once more, but now it looked like it was slightly bigger, and Viza could hear something getting louder. A dark realization came to Viza whatever was up there was coming down and fast. He burst into the General’s tent to inform them but was yelled at for his interruption. Kicked out, Viza ran to Thyrogog, who was currently eating what looked to be a vulture whole. By now the noise was getting much louder and the object getting much larger. Viza told Thyrogog the horrors that were about to come. Thyrogog looked up like he was looking for a new challenge, and saw this object begin to take up the whole sky now. As the army began panicking soldiers running around screaming asking what to do, the camp ironically became the chaos that Mogis embodies. Viza looked to Thyrogog accepting his fate only to see Thyrogog smile. Viza with moments left confused by the sight of this hulking black horned monster smiling at certain death had a single thought “I have the worst luck”.
