Session 5 cont., 11/6/2021
The next morning, Jerry Beard looked once again worse then before he went to bed. He relayed that he had had another dream the night before.
This dream seemed to start as a combination of the first two dreams. In one chamber/cell he saw the woman pinned to the ground. He said it appeared she was trying to go through the floor. In another cell/chamber he saw the man again, chained up and with the dark shape standing over his shoulder. From there the dream changed and he saw a third vision. This time he saw a derelict and rotting field. Rising from the center of the field was a white tower.
I think we may need to solve the riddle of these dreams soon. Each one seems to be taking a worse and worse toll on Jerry Beard. I fear they may be causing him harm. Perhaps one of the locals (or Professor Jervis Mirrakle) would recognize the description of the tower or the story playing out in the dream.
Session 6, 11/13/2021
After hearing the retelling of Jerry Beard‘s dream, the group was not what to do, but they felt they needed to resolve the issue soon, as it was sapping away Jerry’s strength.
The first asked Professor Jervis Mirrakle if he recognized the description of the tower, but he did not explaining he was not a local, so was not that familiar with the local landmarks. The group then turned to Kevin Drayer who was working nearby and asked him.
He the description seemed to match that of Neera’s Tower, and abandoned tower some 2 to 3 hours south of town. There were a number of tales about the tower. Some claiming it to be haunted and other reporting an old hag seen at the base of the tower. Children from the town were known to dare one another to visit the tower.
The group agreed that this tower needed to be investigated as soon as possible, but that Jerry Beard was looking the worse for wear and was in no shape to adventure forth. Lormin asked Professor Jervis Mirrakle if he had anything that could be used to help bolster Jerry’s flagging strength. He did have 2 healing potions for sale, but wanted 50gp a piece for them, a dear price beyond Jerry Beard‘s means. Lormin offered to allow Jerry to use his horse as collateral to purchase the potions, but they still seemed on the expensive side, and would still not bring Jerry to full strength.
At that point Ysildea offered to make Jerry Beard a sleeping draught. No guarantees, but she thought it would knock him out or kill him, but either way he would have the chance to get some rest. The only problem, it would take a full day to brew.
The group decided it was worth it, as long as Jerry Beard was brave enough to drink whatever Ysildea brewed up. The spent the day hanging around the common room at the Roc’s Nest.
During the day, they happened to overhear a conversation concerning Noble woman at the graveyard. A noble woman is seen frequently at the cemetery not far outside of town. Rumor has it that the woman murdered her brother. And she visits his grave frequently to ensure that he is still dead.
At the end of the day, Ysildea had completed her concoction. It looked and stank horrible, as though she had perhaps mixed something dead with some of her magic onions and a few shavings from the bunions she occasionally complains about. She appeared quite surprised when Jerry Beard downed the whole thing in one go. She appeared even more shocked that he didn’t keel over dead.
At that point the party turned in for the night and hoped for the best.
