In the northern reaches of the lands, where commerce and trade flow like rivers of gold, lies the dual City-State of Garithsa and Elrithsa. Here, two powerful merchant families, each with a legacy as vast as the sprawling cityscape, hold sway. Amidst this bustling hub of commerce and intrigue, a mule named Gen Gem emerges as a traveler like no other.
Gen is a wayfarer, a wanderer of the roads, and her journeys are marked by the rhythmic cadence of her hooves against cobblestone streets and dusty paths. Yet, there is one mode of travel she avoids at all costs—boats and carts. Like many wayfarers, she is plagued by an unfortunate affliction: motion sickness. The gentle rocking of a boat or the jolts of a cart can send her stomach churning, making her prefer the steadiness of her own four hooves.
A subclass known as a Wanderer defines Gen’s unique path in life. As she traverses the vast landscapes and bustling marketplaces of Garithsa and Elrithsa, her innate curiosity and thirst for adventure drive her forward. She’s a seeker of the unknown, a collector of stories, and a believer in the power of a horizon yet unseen.
Gen’s weapon of choice is a bow, a faithful companion on her journeys. With a quiver of arrows slung across her back, she is a steady hand and a sharp eye, equally capable of hunting for sustenance or defending herself when the need arises. Her marksmanship is admired by fellow travelers and feared by those who might seek to harm her.
In her early life, a twist of fate led to Gen being found by two traveling merchants. Their paths converged with hers at just the right moment, and she became a member of their nomadic caravan. Under their guidance, she learned the ways of the road, the art of trade, and the value of a well-told tale around a campfire.
Gen believes that her inclination for wandering was not a random occurrence but a reflection of her very nature. As a filly, she might have wandered off from her original home, driven by the wanderer’s spirit that now defines her. It is a theory she holds dear, a belief that her destiny is etched in the roads she treads and the stories she gathers.
In the ever-shifting landscape of Gen Gem’s travels, there exists a unique and often scolding relationship between her and the god she reveres—Hunnco, the deity of nature and the strict guardian of her followers. While Gen finds solace and inspiration in the open road and the wild, it is the ever-watchful and admonishing presence of Hunnco that defines her spiritual journey.
Hunnco, with her stern maternal disposition, is known for her unwavering devotion to the natural world and her unrelenting expectations of her followers. Gen, as a wayfarer who thrives in the untamed expanses of Garithsa and Elrithsa, shares an innate connection with the land and its creatures. It is this affinity that led her to venerate Hunnco as her chosen deity.
However, their relationship is far from conventional. Whenever Gen makes an offering to Hunnco—a bundle of wildflowers, a handful of foraged herbs, or even a simple prayer—the divine response is rarely what she expects. Rather than gentle guidance or reassuring blessings, Hunnco is more inclined to deliver stern reproaches and pointed critiques.
