The Ritual (continued)
On the shore, the cultists brought the group to the temple to wait for sunrise and Korfel’s reappearance to presumably sacrifice us for the ritual, while Casmos, under a pretense went to the village to raise 18 villagers to confront the cultists.
To pass the time, Eldara gave them weird instructions with the cryptic paper in hand, while Lyra took the chance to study the Leylines a bit closer, hoping to learn more about the weave. Chatting about the nature of magic, Caefaera told her that she is losing her ability to cast magic whenever she is having too much fun from fighting. Besides, the magic felt not only stronger here, but had a feeling of “home”, of the feywild. Both Lyra and Caefaera felt it.
Casmos came back, pretending to prepare tea and at the sound of the kettle whistling, the villages attacked, immediately overwhelming the cultists. Victory!
In the celebration, Jim/James brought forth a weird device that he claimed was able to capture and instant painting. With the caveat that the “recording container” had to be brought to Waterdeep to be developed. Gigi took it, to deliver it to Alchemist Lowell Northtouch.
The villagers agreed on festivities in the honour of our group in the afternoon.
To pass the time, Lyra went to the library (located in the town’s school) to see if she could learn more about Leylines. There, she met a half-elven librarian, Travoril Comu, who’s grandfather founded Beasanport 700 years ago together with a temple of Mystra atop those Leylines. Lyra learned about Mystra, the goddess of magic, about the Candlekeep Library where she was sure to learn more about the nature of magic, if she managed to bring a book that was new to the library’s collection as entrance fee. (Side note: Casmos best fried should also be in Candlekeep). And she told the librarian about her experience of loneliness as a young Satyr who was able to (and liked to) read.
Gigi meanwhile had finished the cap and scarf (Schamütze) for Casmos and gifted it to him. At the same time she stole the cursed diadem from his head, unnoticed by a very happy birdy (“Bommel Bommel Bommel!”)
In the afternoon, the promised festivities were held, and we even got gifted a house. Caefaera collected 40GPs, 5 per person, 10 for Gigi (after some menacing glares) and 20 for herself. As a cherry on top, she made a deal with the captain to give him the two cultists’ ship in exchange for “15% of what he makes”, to be collected when we make it back here.
Quotes:
- “What are your masterful in?” Cultist “Culting! I have been part of three different cults!”
- Casmos will use the house we go gifted as “Bird & Breakfast”
