Fenpenny, Fernweh, Axle, Grexes, Huzzah!, and Wooshhh, prepare to leave Gosterwick for the Old Forest, after learning the day before that Gerrilad never had captures orphans or planned to ritually slaughter them. Before leaving they stop by the Grain Hall and learn that Fael Valdorsdot has left for the Old Forest ahead of them. Seeking to recruit help, the party travels to the House of the Thesmothete to gain an audience with Captain Swales, leader of the Gosterwick City Watch. Speaking to Captain Swales proves unfruitful, as she claims the City Watch has no jurisdiction outside of what will someday be the city walls of Gosterwick. When asked if the Azure Knights would help she responded that she thought they would balk at entering the Old Forest. She remarks that the Thorcin Recovery League might help but that they are likely too far away for such a quick need since their base is in the New Forest, in the opposite direction from the Old Forest. The party is able to convince Swales to allow three off duty guardsmen to accompany the party as they leave Gosterwick and strike out for the Old Forest and the Druid Circle.
