After reuniting with Nathaniel Malorn the party learns that he was actually in Westgate to rescue Amely. But alas, she was already taken by Bleth and when he contacted her by magic she was already on board of the Bleth gallion sailing for a beachhead near Saerloon. The party ventured foward in the tunnels only to find a shrine to Cyric, one of the evil gods of trickery, deceit, lies, intrigue. This shrine was obviously used for worshipping recently and small animals were being sacrificed here. Nathaniel and Cereen destroy the altar with their holy magic. Alyssa found a secret exit which led to the Bleth horse stable in the castle. Vanniya threads back upon hearing a muttering, she hears the omnipresent sound of “infidels” in many different languages and a reddish glow comes from the altar.
The group quickly decides that they can’t let this be and head back down. With holy water and praise to the lord Cereen and Nathaniel are able to perform a small exorsism on the altar and the moving stones correct themselves. On the other end of the cave Cairon manages to set of a trap but luckily escapes its effect. Another trap is disabled and a loot stash is found (2400g for 6 party members and a potion of invisability).
They party continues and head back to the inn of the Golden Leaf to find a trustworthy captain named Narder Morley. Nathaniel and Blue Eyes manage to convince him to sail out right away and the party leaves the city of Westgate in turmoil. Alyssa stays behind to fulfill her own questline with Jamal; well she’ll probably head back to the unicorn to cuddle some more and wait out the three weeks to find her temple.
In the meantime on “the Fortune Star” Vanniya obscurely recalls that she has heard or read somewhere something about mating season…and now due to the moon-standing, the smell of the ocean (slightly hormonal…) and the sensual flow of the wind through her hair she regains this knowledge: it might be dragon turtle mating season. This is later confirmed by Birk (true story) the boatsman while the captain is all but oblivious and only attracted to the voluptuous body of Cereen.
Later that day the ship is attacked by a pirate ship, well, when I say attacked I mean that it is quickly set on fire before it actually could do anything that would remotely look like attacking. But al this ruckus had disturbed Parnak, a gargantuan dragon turtle, in the midst of the act of mating. He is not happy.
