After seeing his children, Henry is over the moon with excitement. Once he confirms that those are his sons, he begins to angrily question them about why they’re masquerading as the Lord of Chaos. Lark and Sparrow are wise to this, and immediately call for the guards to put them in the dungeon. Despite Henry’s protests, Lark continues to call for the guards. Immediately, guards spring out and point their weapons at the dads.
In an effort to preserve their freedom and reunite with his children, Henry approaches the manager of the guard, Arson to attempt to explain the situation they find themselves in now. When resisting arrest, Henry, Ron and Darryl are immediately knocked unconscious. Glenn knows when to throw in the towel, and complies without resisting. Unfortunately, they do not have an opportunity to put their clothes back on. As the only member of the party who’s awake, Glenn watches as Lark and Sparrow take an elevator up to an unknown place, while he and the other dads are taken down toward the dungeons.
While traveling down to the prison, the elevator stops as the guards carrying their things exits with their possession. Still naked and without their possessions, the four dads are dropped into individual cells. There are other prisoners alongside them. One cell has a sign forbidding anyone to open it, holding a small crying girl. Another cell holds someone wearing a hood, sitting on his own.
The dads wake up to Glenn practicing mouth trumpet. When they attempt to do a buddy system check-in, Henry has been declared everybody’s buddy. In typical Darryl fashion, he immediately introduces himself to the guard and ask for their clothes back. The guard, Speaker Travis, reveals that the warden forbid them from having their clothes back. Henry is curious about their new situation, but before he can ask too many questions, Lark and Sparrow enter the prison block.
Immediately, Henry questions them to try and understand why his two beautiful boys put him and the other dads into prison. Lark and Sparrow spell it out very simply: Henry seemed like he was going to stop them from doing the things they want to do. Lark reveals that the Lord of Chaos was initially something of a joke, but that the people of Neverwinter continue to do what they say, so they must now just be the Lord of Chaos. Their plan is to fight the eldritch being that resembles the Doodler once it’s summoned. Henry’s progressive parenting style has come back to bite him, with the twins believing that they can do anything they put their minds to – including summoning an eldritch god and killing it.
Before Darryl can jump in with his parenting advice, Henry shuts him down.
Henry encourages them to think through their plan, reminding the boys to have empathy and consider how they would feel if someone did what they’re planning to them. Henry challenges them to consider the consequences of their actions, but they boys are convinced they’ll be able to defeat the Doodler. Henry begins to poke holes in the plan, explaining that they may not be strong enough to fight the Doodler, that even their cult friends may not be strong enough.
As Henry debates with his children, Ron begins to look for a way to escape the cell. He touches a discolored brick, revealing purple ruins that read: I’m hungry. Without hesitation, Ron replies, “Hi hungry, I’m dad.” Immediately, Darryl’s door, Ron’s door, and Glenn’s door open. Henry’s cell door remains closed and purple ruins appear, telling Henry, This is your fault.
Immediately, Lark and Sparrow recognize the threat of the dads’ doors being open and they make a break for the elevator. Darryl jumps into action, sprinting after Lark and Sparrow. Glenn attempts to reason with the guard, asking for him to just be cool about the whole thing. The guard isn’t buying it, jumping for a fight as soon as Glenn mentions his exposed penis.
Darryl grabs Lark and Sparrow, who immediately begin to cry for help and bite Darryl. Lark manages to free himself by biting Darryl’s hand, but Sparrow is unsuccessful. Ron tries to help Henry out of his cell, despite Henry trying to convince him to go after Lark. Seeing all of this, Henry’s druid magic activates and he casts Entangle with the goal of ensnaring Lark before he can escape. The spell lands and Lark is thrilled by the rush of battle. While the other dads struggle with Henry’s bratty kids, Glenn attempts to charm the guard watching over them by complimenting his set up, but it fails miserably. The guard launches an attack against Glenn.
In the midst of all of this, reinforcements arrive. Darryl attempts to convince them that he’s the Dad of Chaos here to reign his kids in. He lets Sparrow go, who launches into untangling Lark. With the twins there to disagree with him, Darryl’s bluff attempt goes terribly. He resorts to drastic measures, taking Sparrow as a hostage. Sparrow is thrilled to be made into a hostage. Darryl convinces the guards to release Henry. Lark and Sparrow suffer under the effects of dad jokes and the dick swinging Darryl is up to.
Desperate to escape, Sparrow decides to split from Lark. He informs the guards that they’re starting the ceremony now and he makes a break for the elevator. Henry moves to stop him, but is attacked by a guard.
As the tension ramps up, combat breaks out between the guards and the dads. Without a place to hide, Ron resorts to ducking into his pants to hide. He hides so well that the dads and the guards believe Ron has left his abandoned them, leaving his pants behind. During the course of battle, Henry cracks a dad joke. The dads watch Lark and Sparrow take damage from this, realizing for the first time that, despite all the changes of this world, their dad jokes are powerful. No longer do the dads take damage from their own dad jokes.
During the chaos, the little girl reveals herself to be a shapeshifter. Glenn helps her escape by pointing out that she could make herself very thin and very wide to slip through the bars. Once she does this, he pulls her out and sets her free.
Above all else, Henry is impressed by how loyal his two boys are to each other.
Darryl deceives one of the guards into thinking he’s going to let him go. However, as the lizard-folk turns to run, Darryl attempts to punch the glass in him to kill him. Darryl whiffs the punch, and the guard promises to never forget his mercy. After seeing this, the remaining guard surrenders to the the dads.
Henry had grabbed onto the bottom of the elevator that Sparrow was taking up to the top floor to begin the ceremony. On this trip, Sparrow reveals that the twins and the Sheriff created a plan to determine which of the dads is the unsung hero. Sparrow and Henry arrive at the top of this tower, where a crowd has lined up to throw themselves into a pit of spikes. Upon seeing this, Henry is alarmed and immediately questions why Sparrow wants to fight the Doodler so bad.
Sparrow reveals that he and Lark want to self-actualize, and want to fight the Doodler to do so. Henry gives Sparrow a moving speech, explaining to Sparrow that he’s already done that. Love has allowed him to self-actualize. Henry explains that true strength comes from love - loving in spite of fear of loss, of hurt, and so on. At the end of his speech, Henry transforms into a wolf. Lark, who overhears this speech from the bottom of the shaft, is not convinced. However Sparrow, who was unsure, is entirely convinced when he sees Henry turn into such an amazing wolf.
With this, Sparrow realizes that the greatest strength is not in violence, but in loving people and also being a wolf.
Boreanaz sees this exchange and clarifies that Sparrow no longer wishes to summon the Doodler. Sparrow is convinced that his new calling is to be a love wolf, so he abandons his mission to bring forth the Doodler. The Sheriff declares Henry to be the unsung hero, commanding his guards to get him.
