After two days of sailing, the rest of the crew arrived in Calaloch following Tombah’s fast pace as he rides currents and riptides as only an Adria can. With Tombah gone from the ship, Scrum took on the role of bosun and mapkeeper, monitoring the waves for portals and approaching ships, but none appeared near them, though there were plenty appearing across the ocean over the 2 days of sailing.
At the end of this voyage, Kerlu led the party and Dairon down through the currents into the domed kingdom of Calaloch, ancestral home of the Adrian merfolk. You were greeted by Admiral Lindella Dailina II, Horizon Walker, protector of the reef, and mother of Lindella Dailina III, who offered you a stay in her home or the medical ward. She told you that Amira and Della arrived a day and a half ago, both alive, but barely. Tombah was right to drop them into the water, as Della’s Adrian bloodline preserved her body, while Amira had a similar response, though the healer’s aren’t sure why. Thanks to the Healer’s Magic, you only wait a day after arrival before Della and Amira awake.
While asleep, Amira was visited by her patron in a scene reminiscent of the last time he saved her from Olentra’s attempt on her life. He identified himself as Zenethor, a previous herald of the seas for Melora, twin of the herald of the skies for Kord. The brothers had a falling out when they each fell in love with the spirit of the ocean, Ambuneer. They each gave Ambuneer pieces of their divine power, without permission, causing their gods to rend the brothers asunder and scatter them throughout the realm, trapping them in stasis for centuries. When Zenethor first found Amira, he hoped to use her as a conduit to find his essence and return him to full form as a demigod. However, after encountering Olentra, he realized that Denethor had the same idea and is using Olentra to find the pieces of 8 that define their power. Denethor and Olentra are tapped into the Netherdeep, the strange pocket dimension that Della’s powers come from, corrupting them. Unchecked, they’ll gain control of the oceans and divine power. Amira and the party need to gather the vestiges and journey into the Netherdeep to destroy whatever powers it. Then you will be able to face Olentra in a weakened state, claiming whatever pieces of 8 she has acquired.
Della was visited by Kord, who revealed that he has selected her as his new champion, after his previous emissary was given a piece of the ocean by this group and fled. Kord believes Della owes him and demands that she claim her power, questioning why she’s so loathe to be given such gifts. She is to claim her power, stop those who are siphoning it, and become a planeswalker in his name. Not taking no for an answer, he marked her with a rune and gave her a vision of a volcano, and a rocky hand gripping a trident.
