Jean gives Amon a note in the morning, then leaves and ignores the request to come cook with the group. This will have no consequences.
The group go food shopping, and Chen supplies the harder to find ingredients (and a recipe), before they settle down to start cooking. Fortunata burns hers, Six and Sirvyr make okay food and Amon has to use inspiration and magic to make it taste good. Enzo cuts up bits and the group talk together as they chill. Eventually, the group has to leave, but Amon has gives a cold shoulder to Jean after one of their usual arguments, then they go deliver some of the garlic stirfry crab to Chen. She is happy. The group aim to talk to Falia to catch her up on some things, so they travel there and chill as they explain that its just Adonis there nothing to worry about. They don’t mention that they found Bianca lol. Jean leaves fast, Six and Sirvyr go away to catch each other up on stuff. Amon becomes friends with NotFalia, and then Jean and Amon have another very public argument lol.
Amon mentions the rain being a tumour as in The Possibility of Excellence: An expressive presentation of what it’s like to live, as if NotFalia can do anything about that. She promises she will, lying, and does the same to Teo with the bite. She has no interest in sending anyone over there, recognising the situation to be akin to her own.
Amon and Jean decide to head to the shoreline. They argue a bit more about how Amon’s home life wasn’t actually that bad, then the stress of it all causes the book to start replaying a memory of Amon’s, a teacher shouting shut up during a music recital lol. They have metaphors about heroes and villains. Nikodem is there at the shore!
Sirvyr heads to the Pantheon. Gets some info that basically the Pantheon wants to run the city NotFalia is a fake ruler whatever. Six and Sirvyr find Amon and Jean and they all have a chat. Amon tries to scare Nikodem. This works, and it activates the Jera ᛃ and the city almost gets drowned in water. Aleks comes to stop it, and the day is saved. Aleks tries to explain to Sirvyr that this is what happened last time, but bugs out at the last second. The stronghold duo gives their goodbyes, then peaces out as Jean decides to go get horses.
Amon is not in the headspace to be giving out info, so Jean goes to NotFalia to go get a document. She bullies him for a bit, then gives the note. Jean goes on a rant about leaving her behind, and in his metaphor literally tears out the Ligare between them. He leaves her when the guards tell him to, and happily buys two horses; Virgil for Amon and Desmond for Jean. Sirvyr has moved away to continue to speedrun things. As Amon and Jean leave, Jean explains the situation, and Amon freaks out, recognising what is going on. They move to Falia’s room in the university.
Sirvyr enters the Cat’s Meow, ran by Rocco, pretending to be Valeska (‘Val’), and gives away some information that the lady of house House Romano has been having many people over that shouldn’t be there. Rocco also heard some boy entered Erban a while ago, and that D’Roccamo soldiers were heading toward Erban. sirvyr draws The Emperor on the coins and generally they bond, then Sirvyr heads back to the hotel.
Amon and Jean arrive at notFalia’s, and Amon asks for Consillium, who comes running and stabilizes her, but reversing the loss of soul is beyond her means. Amon and Jean head back to the hotel.
Amon believes Helio is planning a takeover, and tells Jean this. Jean is a centrist for like a moment and then remembers he is meant to be a hero here, and they have a tea ceremony in Amon’s room. The group decide to leave tomorrow.
Sirvyr informs Adonis, who says that he’ll follow and that they shouldn’t get involved with Belluae business. Jean goes to find Renzo, but finds one of the other soldiers instead. A woman tells him to give up on finding Renzo, but he refuses to. She explains Renzo was fired. Jean wants everyone travelling back without the merchants. He persuades her to let him see Renzo, who is surprised and kind of weirded out as he is questioned on the Red Ring, which he gives very little answers to lol. He does decide to help during what he is told is an invasion of Erban, and Jean convinces everyone he has the right to reinstate someone as a guard (he does not have this right and this plot point won’t come back later i’m sure)
