Ham Barleytopple
Owner and Operator, Blackthorn Tattoo Parlor
Ha’am Urudark grew up right here in the Redroof District of Kintargo. After his parents’ deaths, well known local gnome, Banna Barleytopple, raised Ha’am as her own son, instilling in him the values of the Everbloom. Banna, or as she’s more widely known as, Mama B, taught Ha’am to oppose oppression in all of its forms, to defend those that could not defend themselves, and above all else, to hope.
Ha’am tried with all of his might to live a life of a devoted Milanite, but found it difficult to identify who was in need of defending and freeing. After several run-ins against the law, Ha’am turned to his mother at the age of 16, hoping for guidance. But as she grieved the fresh death of her husband, Mama B left Ha’am to figure out his way for himself.
Flash forward 16 years.
Ham, as he is now known, was released from the Kintargo prison after 10 years of incarceration almost one year ago to date. He owns and operates a tattoo parlor, the Blackthorn, in the Redroof district where he keeps a low profile and earns decent money tattooing. All types frequent the Blackthorn. Most often you see sailors and gruff-looking folk getting barbed wire around their bicep. But word of Ham’s skill with the needle, and his new invention, a foot-pedal-powered machine that allows for more precise tattooing, has spread to even the wealthier regions of Kintargo. So it is not uncommon to see monks, merchants, and even nobles in his shop.
Since the disappearance of many key members of the Rose of Kintargo on the Night of Ashes, Ham has had to hide his worship of Milani even more than usual. But all followers of the Everbloom know they can find respite at the Blackthorn.
He is supposed to meet a contact at the Aria Park who, whispers say, is working opposition the the Thrunes. And Ham fucking hates the Thrunes.
