Azvernathi was born and raised in the Church of Asmodeus. He lived his life working his way up the ranks, and was eventually given the opportunity to lead a raid of Redactors to Hocum’s Fantasmagorium, alongside Nox. Here, he set about searching through the multitude of texts left in the abandoned ruins to find any heretical or rebellious materials that may have been left. Despite a thorough search of the upper floor, there was little information of import to the Church, save for the secret of how to open the secret staircase under the statue of Aroden.

During his time searching the upper-floor, he was able to raise a variety of corpses as zombies, which had apparently been left by the Asmodeans that had cleared the space previous to the redactors coming in. Who those Asmodeans were, and how the corpses, especially of Lord and Lady Victocora, came to be there, was left unrevealed by Raul. It was during his time searching through texts, that the Silver Raven’s began their excursion into the Phantasmagorium.

Despite the efforts of his Zombie minions, and the several Redactors with him, his lackeys were all slain and Azvernathi was captured and plied for information. Under threat of his life, he was forced to heal the Silver Ravens, losing his divine powers that had been granted for his faith in Asmodeus, in the process. Left with no connection to Asmodeus, and under duress, Azvernathi answered every question from the Silver Ravens, and was told to leave the city alltogether, to start a new life in Nidal or Varisia to the North. He was told quite clearly that there would be no third chances if the Silver Ravens ever saw him in the city again…
