3 Eleint 1491
In Loudwater we found ourselves a guide, some found him way too expensive but were not around to complain when the deal was struck so on the way to the dwarven ruin he’ll be hearing that a lot. We won’t dive into that much deeper, but one wonders where did that sarcasm came from? Anyhows: There is this magical hotel where most of the party stays the night over, Bear drinks alone in a run-down tavern in the centre of the village. Peter Zonnestraal meets a fellow soldier in that same tavern later that night and learns about the major of the next city Llorkh, who apparently imploded right on the town square with magical fire. There is also chatter about a barbarian clan who settled just up north of Loudwater and is supposedly a group of shapechangers and as they arrived the werewolf sightings and attacked began. But this is al heresay.
The following days the party ventures out into the moor. Peter starts to map the area for later use by the The Map House Guildhall. in Waterdeep. H’arald Fornax is very interested in a lake where presumably an magical airship lies on the bottom (see quests). On one very misty day the group encountered a mangy band of goblins on wolves and slaughtered most of them. After a short ethical debate 2 or 3 were undressed to the loincloth and set free. An onwards to the merry dwarven city of the lost clan of Bandur. Which they reach on day five. They find walking skeletons roaming about, seemingly just doing their business as in life and going to the quarry to work. All houses are remarkably empty and this is even more striking in the main entrance hall where all ornaments seem to have been taken away. Here Peters map comes in handy, but on the spot where the room with all goodies should be they find a large gaping hole (EEKS SANDWORMS?). But no, after a few hundred yards down the rabbit hole it appears to be a magical mist of sorts. While fighting off skeletons the mist seems to be tugging on their power of will. And finally they find Yammi, an elf who has obviously lost it. He admits being a grave robber but seems to be in service of a man named “eindbaas” the tomebound. Well actually there is this magical mist to consider who seems to be even more powerful than this supposed “eindbaas”. Long story short: Yammi takes us to his master and we see him standing over a pit which seems to be the home of the “evil which destroyed the ancient city of the Bandur clan” story told by Mans. He is indeed bound by 2 tomes and protected by 3 pilons of magic. We fight of hordes and hordes of skeletons, at least a hundred are slain by Bear Moonmusk, Gaige almost died, H’arald Fornax didn’t hit a single skeleton but not for lack of trying, Saga Amberfall and Gaige almost merged into one new PC called: Saige (mental note: name of my new character), Peter almost died too but through sheer luck managed to destroy the pilons with H’arald Fornax. They quickly discover that the books are evil with an capital E. The chains are broken, the “eindbaas” the tomebound is tossed over the ledge and with the burning of the books the evil under the city of Bandur is returned to whatever plane it came from. A large loot pile is discovered in the room next door and Peter finds where he was looking for: a book full of mechanical schematics of how to build a gun. And yammi you all wonder what happend to him right? Well during the fight he turned evil, but just before Gaige bravely ran away from him he was sleep-spelled by Saga Amberfall and he is awaiting judgement quite close to the pit of doom.
–> the next evening (in real time):
Yammi joins the party back to Loudwater and there he suddenly learns that he wants to be a pirate in the Moon isles (sure?). So he decides to travel back to Waterdeep with the party. Peter Zonnestraal is invited to speak with one of the Gauntlets of Loudwater about the werewolf attack on the way to Loudwater. He agrees to show the guards where it happened so they can investigate some more and bury the poor lads.
