After battle te captain is subject of a pirate practice called keelhauling, a public affair in which the subject of the matter is killed. Moriana Duskwalker is now captain again of her ship the Hell of High Water and we set sail under a setting sun. The noice of seagulls, the splashing of water against the bow, the bickering of Gaige and Tinar in the crow’s nest…all so peaceful. H’arald Fornax gets to know Moriana Duskwalker. He learns that she wants to make a stop to get some loot for her crew (and herself). But most importantly he (and only he) learns that she is a vampire. We decide to aid Moriana and it is compromised that the loot is divided 50/50. On the trip there we all learn a lot about building and maintaining a ship, sailing a ship, navigating a ship and Bear Moonmusk learns more about fighting on a ship and gets some old school fighter tips from Peter Zonnestraal.
A few days travel later land Ahoy is yelled by Gaige and a millisecond later also by Tinar. We set foot upon this island and Peter Zonnestraal finds out that the ruin is actually of Netherese origin and it’s purpose was a secret research facility.
In a hallway we find a shadow-blade-trap which badly damages Peter. After this Bear Moonmusk starts seeing ghosts and starts fighting with it. One of the ghosts takes control over Gaige. Peter grapples Gaige and with the help of H’arald Fornax the ghost is expulsed from the halfling girl. Next Gaige finds 2 of the sailors who killed each other over a bag of 2000g. Next up is a large cave with stairs down to a small village. On the stairs there is a pressure plate which Peter ignites with a mage hand. All manage to jump over this trigger and get below safely. In the village Peter sees a man behind a window on the top floor o a mansion. Bear storms in only to find a little girl and her doll in the study next to an exquisite globe with the map of the world as it was 150y ago.
We find out that she and her family are Netherese and stuck in the material plane after the Neterese people found a way to migrate to the Shadowplane some 150y ago. Her father Jihn badly wants to get back to his people and suggests we can help them. In exchange we get the loot and 200 books from his library on shadow magic. Deal.
We fought the Melegrin (who took the form of 3 little children but where actually fiends with 3 eyes and scales). Peter was shortly turned in a rabbit but managed to undo this foul fiendish magic with supreme pirate magic.
After the battle we get the key from the loot chamber. Jihn and his family cross the shadow-magic door and leave. In the chamber of loot we find 2 obsidian statues and a coffer of gold (3000g each). H’arald Fornax manages to somehow (magically) transport the massive statues and is really secretive about the how of this feat.
