Daniel
Butler to Edgar Tavin Bailey IV
Edgar IV never truly had friends growing up, only people he saw as political connections. He never really cared for anyone, not until Daniel Fildondo; a smooth-talking peasant, made his way into the cold wannabe tyrant’s life.
Daniel worked full time as an underling to a popular leatherworker in Daragin named Kent. Despite having no interest in the craft or any experience, Daniel needed the money to support his sickly mother after his dead-beat dad left to start some, in his words, traveling freak show, never to be heard from again. The boy lied about everything to get the job. Where he lived. How old he was. How much experience he had. Kent knew Daniel wasn’t truthful with him but kept him around anyway. He could tell Daniel needed the job and people like that are bound to work hard. And work hard he did.
Whilst on an outing to pick up an order from the leatherworker with his father, Edgar IV would see the boy pouring his heart out into his work. Edgar loved watching the boy struggle, rushing around trying to keep up with the demands of his master. But what really stood out to Bailey was the boy’s ability to listen. The leatherworker would bark his commands and without flinching, thinking or asking any questions the boy would do it seemingly perfectly or good enough as to not warrant the anger of his master. Bailey liked that, where others make due with someone who’ll ask “how high?” He has always preferred those who already know how they must jump, those without the need to question an order. Edgar IV there and then plucked the boy off the streets and made him into a refined and dignified man worth keeping around.
Daniel’s mother was brought to the Bailey mansion and treated for her illnesses as was requested from the boy. Daniel is now 22 and both Edgar’s head butler and most trusted advisor.
