Session #7 - End

After helping with the reconstruction of Greenest for 5 days, we left for the raider camp. We left at 4 pm, to arrive at the camp by night. We posted ourselves up on the cliff with a good view of the Hatchery’s entrance. We saw pretty quickly that the camp was way less occupied than last time, with about half the camp taken down and very few people moving about the camp. We decided to make the trip back to Greenest and find someone to use a Sending spell to notify Leosin of our findings. His answer sent us to investigate the cave to know what was happening inside.

We travelled back to the camp, this time going around to where the watchtower was on the back entrance to the camp. We snuck up towards the tower, with Elyndra ready to cast a silence spell as soon as we were spotted by the guards, which happened pretty fast, starting a fight. We beat the two guards pretty fast, and then snuck inside the camp, encountering no resistance before reaching the cavern entrance.

Inside, we were immediately attacked by two elite cultists, which we beat without too much trouble. Proceeding inside the cave, we descended some stairs and fought some fungus. The next cave contained a group of kobolds, winged kobolds and a guard drake, which we engaged, but we were attacked by a group of stirges during the fight. The fight nearly killed us all, but Thalindra managed to kill the last of the creatures and help the others get back on their feet. We looted the bodies and found a bunch of minor magical items, including a magical amulet, a magical staff, some healing potions, a magical wand and a scroll of protection from fiends.

Session #8

After looting the corpses, we investigated the rest of the cave we were in. We found a pit with young guard drakes inside, with a set of stairs leading down that was closed off with bars. We decided to throw the kobold corpses down the pit, thinking the drakes might be friendlier to us if we gave them food, but they didn’t seem interested in eating the corpses, so we left the cave and descended a set of stairs inside a wall.

The next cavern contained a big group of kobolds and winged kobolds that spotted Zerrius as he tried to scout ahead. We were pretty banged up and out of resources from the beginning of the exploration of the cave, so it was a pretty rough fight. most of the party fell unconscious, except Elyndra. The end of the fight was punctuated by some mysterious blasts of light that killed a couple of kobolds further inside the cave, but we have no clue what that was.

After this fight, we decided to get a full night’s sleep inside this cave, as it was used as a dormitory by the kobolds and it had decent cover from the entrance.

After a good rest, we decided to go forward and descend another set of stairs we found inside this chamber.

We ended up inside a cave with crude depictions of dragons carved on the walls, with one big picture of a five headed dragon on the wall behind a small chest. When we entered the cave, we were spotted by a berserker raider, who alerted his boss, the Half-Dragon Champion that Thalindra dueled in Greeenest.

After defeating the champion and his 2 lackeys, we started investigating the small chest. We quickly discovered that there was a lot more black dragon carvings on the wall than the other colors and that the black dragon carvings had a lot of small holes in them. Understanding the chest was probably trapped, we spent a long time trying to come up with a plan to open it safely, while Thalindra went a little further inside the cave to look at what was waiting for them.

Session #9

We decided to hide behind a wall and drag the chest with a rope to try to not get caught by whatever trap we thought moving the chest might trigger. Zerrius tried to pull the chest but he failed, so Thalindra took his place and managed to pull it back toward the group. As soon as the chest was moved, a big cloud of acid was released from the holes in the wall, forcing us to move to the next room to escape the acid.

Elyndra and Zerrius were hurt by the acid, but the rest of the party was fine. When the cloud finally dissipated, we moved back to the room and Thalindra broke the lock and we looted some jewelry from the inside. We sent Taranthiel to scout another passage that ended with a ladder. We agreed to go check out the ladder to confirm if it was a dead end or not. Zerrius went up alone. He came back soon after to tell us there was a room with furniture and a corridor, so we went back to the big room Thalindra scouted earlier.

We saw a room with a ledge that dropped and had large eggs at the bottom. It also had stairs that we protected with bars and another ledge that dropped to what seemed like a dead end. Suddenly, Thalindra was attacked by something that immobilized her feet, and Zerrius and Thalindra were attacked with fire bombs coming from the dead end ledge, where 4 kobolds were hidden. While the kobolds were being dealt with, Taranthiel was caught by a creature’s tendrils and got dragged down the ledge where he got attacked by drakes and knocked unconscious. Zerrius was then also caught by the creature and dragged down. The fight was too much for the party, they all died.
