Day 24
We will arrive late in the day- 1 travel hazard (1700)
○ We pass an inhabited planet
○ We approach Devoratz
○ Someone runs out to meet us, they’re armed.(Comrade Tethera)
○ Off-world business is subject to a 20% tax upon departure
§ Devorats- Colonizsed by Chacledon. They store their dead there. When Chacledon left, the ruling families (she spits on the ground), imitated their practices
○ The city- Half a dozen stone buildings,, another half dozen iconic buildings. Lots of Chaceldonian influence.
§ We don’t see any big temples or a lot of clerics, which seems weird to us.
○ We arrive at the Sunkiler emporium
§ There’s a well appointed retail space. There are posters with unfamiliar slogans
§ Behind the counter is a burly guy with tusks, he looks at us. We give them the letter (Yan)
□ The Letter says that the Farsampt guild ship (with a priest on it.) was here. They gave some money and purchased equipment for us
§ They’re familiar with the situation with the twins.
□ They were wandering around for a week. They got some help from the Suncular Emporium, then went off to the catacombs under the waterfall. It’s hard to get there.
□ The practice of visiting has fallen out of favor since the revolution
□ The priest came, was working with someone (female person who did not come.) She wanted to come into the catacombs. Sanctified by Martus
○ 6 potions of healing, 2 potions of greater healing. 1 potion of water breathing. He has matching outfits! Dark blue jumpsuits with matching wax canvas. Will keep us dry. They have AC!
§ Jacque get a shield emblazed with the twin suns on it
○ He leads us through the town, towards the lake. The water is pretty clear, schools of glowing neon fish. Boat ride takes half an hour.
○ We land on the far side, near a game trail. We walk for about 10 minutes and we arrive at the escarpment. The falls are a couple miles south of us. 30 feet down is a ledge that we can walk across to get to the falls
○ Jacques rolls a 26, we get to the waterfall. The ledge gets wider and wetter
○ 10x20 feet of stagnate water, about 5 feet deep. Brambles jumps in, then gets held by a water elemental
We all get to the other side!
• Cast Mage Armor
• Cast Dancing lights, in a shape of a humanoid “Glowy”
• We see rows of shelves, 20 feet high, 100 feet long, shelves with bones, lots of eyes of Martus, some representation of the Twins.
• I scream for the Twins (Charisma check (10))
• We explore, I nearly die from moss
• Bramble nearly dies from ooze
• I find a tablet with the Eye of Martus, with a prayer written in celestial.
• We continue exploring, eventually find a clue, a hole in the floor. At the bottom is a collapsed staircase. Brable jumps down. Finds some glowing doors with the Eye of Martus on them. Space between them is glowing with radiant energy
• I recite the prayer from the tablet that I found, the doors swing open (Religion, 30 check), get healed to full health
○ We see a 10x30 hallway glowing with radiant energy. At the other end is an archway that opens into void, there’s a leaver next to the door and the wall is covered with clock gears
○ There’s a campsite
○ Yilosia sees a chain hanging in the darkness (10-15 feet inside the darkness)
○ We see gears and an axel at the top of the cave, it looks like they were recently worked on.
• We pull the leaver and take a short rest. We get in the elevator. I cast dancing lights
○ We finally arrive in a huge space
○ 100 feet away, there are parallel lines that Jacques can see. Intentional balconies, terraces. Nothing in the other direction.
○ It takes us an hour to descend
○ Jacques recognizes this as Chacledonian colonial era stonework. (3 hours have passed)
○ We arrive at the bottom, there’s a wooden teaseled platform. We tie rope to each other and the elevator.
○ Folks have slept here (they, perhaps, plummeted 60 feet) There’s no corpse
• Someone shoots at us, they have a magpie with them, tells us to put our weapons down
○ Has red hexagons on this armor, signifying a member of the Reformed School The “Twilinger Cecil” (Twilinger = high ranking member), Siroka is the Magpie. Gives a potion of greater healing to Bramble, Yilosha and Jacques.
○ Cecil feels like they will become an asset to the Expanse “if they desire.”
§ Here to make sure they survive.
○ We get attacked by ghosts, we win!
○ Cecil gets suspicious of Rikivon, myself and Bramble
• We reach the end of the tunnel, a cave sump, air bubbles up from the water
• Yilosha uses detect magic
○ Divination magic, a ton of it. Its divine, connected to some celestial being.
Sometimes divine magic just seeps into the world in dark places.
