Arrival day
Metsya –>The Pale Citadel
• We make it to the Citadel!
○ We meet someone, cousin Gerem
○ Patritia took Rikavion’s ship, but hasn’t made it home. Ship may have been pirated.
○ At the mention of “The Opossum”, Gerem says “by the grace of the possum” and plays dead
○ Goal: Get to a council meeting
○ We get lead to another room, which is in elevator.
○ It’s important to treat all the councilmembers equally, and generally accepted to give a gift.
• Void song- began 11000 years ago
• Martus appeared 18000 years ago (allowing for colonialism prior to the appearance void song.)
• Suppression of void cults- Cerca 900 yrs ago.
• 1st great war- 445 years ago
• Goal: We want to commune with the pale possum to figure out what’s going on between Calcedon and Bluestone
• We start off in the antechamber leading towards the council chambers
• Matrus- “The Witness”-God of Chalcedon, (Think justice, righteousness)
• The plan: Tell the truth
• Rikavon tells the truth about the war and vouches for us!
• Tefisa- Minor planet near by- gemstone mine where undead do the mining
○ There’s “some kind of disturbance” there. Gemstones are being diverted
○ OOC: Rikavon’s mom is exiled there.
○ They offer an amulet- has the cartouche of the pale possum
○ We receive a small pentagonal amulet that treats us as neutral
• We travel to Tefisa (Rikavon’s mother is exiled here.)
• We her a buzz about halfway through the day. It sounds like an atonal chorus.
○ Drifting past our ship is a void wracked corpse, maybe 50 feet away
§ Ribcage is split open, singing the void song (Wis save)
§ The song gets to Jacques (void touched)
○ Bramble sees a ship with an elemental flame streaking away from Tefisa (Perpendicular to us) Looks like it’s heading away from the Citadel
○ There’s only one port, so we head there.
§ I cast mage armor
§ Our amulets glow with pale energy
○ Around us are the mines, or windmills up on the hill powering the machinery
§ We head towards the machinery.
§ The windmills power machinery, but also pump out ground water
○ There’s a door there that’s slightly ajar, Rikavon mage hands the door open, and a trap goes off!
§ There are no gems in the box
○ We head into the mine
○ We find footprints leading up towards the entrance of the mine
○ We run into dust elementals
We find the bodies of half a dozen zombie bodies. They’ve been operated on
○ These are the zombies we’d expect from the Pale Citadel
○ Cranial cavities were opened, then closed. They’re mostly intact
• We see a warm, arcane light up ahead, we smell the hint of a fire, some cooking alchemy
○ Someone may have been there for awhile
○ Rikavon casts disguise self and disguises as a zombie
○ Room is lit by red arcane light, filled primary with an arcane alchemy lab
§ Lots of zombies that have been damaged by some alchemy
§ There’s a corpse sitting on a stool. They’ve been consumed by the void
□ Not sure how they got here….
□ The corpse has been modified with gemstones at it’s temples and clavicle.
• We go into the room, battle ensues
○ The revenant says “Hello Bramble…” It’s his friend Garth
○ The Witch of the Wanderer left them to guard the lab (She left)
§ She built a circlet “and perfected the prototype and has left this place”
○ Ylasia goes down, gets a vision, gives in to the action their deity wants.
• We win! (I kill the revenant with magic missile!)
• We loot the lab
○ 3 vials of acid- Can throw up to 20 feet, 2d6 Acid damage
○ 1 flask alchemists fire- throw up to 20 feet, 1d4 fire damage at start of each turn
○ Vial of poison- burnt othur fumes (inhaled poison)
○ Find fragments of gemstones
§ Evidence of necromancy, divination and transmutation.
§ There is waste from other rituals
○ There’s a device that looks like a telescope, pointed at the ceiling, it looks like a divination system to detect ships from several hours away
§ We use it, there’s a ship approaching
□ Big boxy ship that
□ Looks like the alchemist guild’s ship, it’s a couple hours away.
○ We find a blown glass circlet with amethysts and quartz
§ Ylasia has a compulsion to destroy it.
○ I put on a cursed circlet! Ylasia starts chasing me.
○ I get to review the notes
§ It’s written by a humanoid (they did not have their hands removed) The author refers to the “The Wander”, and they want to “make the most of the second chance that The Wander gave to them”
§ The notes allude to “The society”- The author gets a boost, they have technical equipment, lore which helps.
□ They have to have some quick vessel, unusually fast. Something like what we saw leave.
§ Interested in how the void interacts with the brain- Hoping to connect something about the void into these bodies, they figured they need a void racked corps to study
§ They want to communicate with wander directly.
• The Farsamt Collective ship lands near us (one of the tenders from their main ship
○ We walk back to our ship, Ember and Fulger step out of the other ship
○ They scried us from Ylasia. They ask what we’re doing here.
• They’ll be at a trade fair on Metesia in a week
• We head back to the ship, have a long rest and level up!
• We have dreams
○ I’m floating in space, the twin suns heading into conjunction. I hear a distant choir of voices, similar to the void song
