Sporelings village – Sal with Bully the Bulette; he gets a sack with gems for killing the displacer beasts. We learn a bit about “who is Sal”: he’s from Waterdeep, grew up in an orphanage close to Peter’s shop Store: the Black TOES, speaks no Gnomish whatsoever and is very eager to learn new stuff (he’s very malleable).
With Sal we entered the megacave with goo and displacer beasts spawning portals. Lord Razoun Lord Razoun is floating high up in the air. The purpose of this cave with portals was that Venousos would be able to enter this world. Venousos empowers Lord Razoun which turns him in a giant monstrosity. And there was a halfling too, not being Grunswick Sr (…damn), who is smacked down by Gaige (obviously). Ultimately the Lord Razoun monster-form is killed by Bear (I’ll take that to go with extra cleavage please). The portals are gateways to another realm which started to engulf our plane of existence. They disappear when Razoun is killed, Venousos drags Razoun through the closing portal. So…we saved the world and no one knows about it… We need a bard
The googey loot (extracted from the slimy remains of Razoun)
- Wand
- Studded leather armor +2
- Cloak of the bat
- 1000g pp
- Magic item Gaige
- ring of warmth
- magical robe which acted as a wand; can cast ray of enfeeblement and hold person and expeditious retreat. 5 charges, per spell level 1 charge, 1d2+1 per dag charge-regen. (NB. for future reference: expliciet door dm genoemd dat deze niet stacked met Bear’s armor)
Traveling with Sal to the Underdark to where his campsite is. Long rest. After 6h travel we reach the spore village. Peter makes a map of this part of the Underdark. They have a new quest, a mage in plate armor is pestering the village. Some spores where hurt.
At the place of destination we find a human in black plate with the painted skulls of Cyric on his armor. He moves unnaturally with his right arm. Tries Hold Person on Bear and Peter, which miserably fails! HAH! But he tries again for it is a cool spell and the 2nd time he succeeds and Bear is held in place a few turns until Peter enters rage mode and dishes major damage which breaks concentration of the puppetteer Cyric follower dude. Bear uses cleavage again and severs his forearm from his body, after which the possession ends. Bully the landshark enters a frenzy and Bear wrestles him to calmness. The name of the Cyric follower is Fanir, and he comes from Sembia originally. He insults Peter and Bear strikes him down. We set the corpse on fire.
Peter loots the corpse very, very thoroughly:
- spint mail of Cyric +2
- Mace +3
- Ring of shooting stars
- Ring of Cyric (divine focus)
- 650g pp
We take Sal with us to Mirabar and he wants to get drunk in a fight club (really? yeah really!). Bear fights and wins (why did I mention this, Bear always wins, except when he fights the elderly). At the height of the evening an Uthgard named Kiran comes up and smells Bear out. Bear is respectfully unworthy in his eyes, not being in a tribe and not being blessed by the Uthgard and Tempus. He has had a vision about a blue bear, which was lost in the forest. The shaman Gruhilla sent him on this path. Bear has never spoken to his ancestral spirits and never stood on his ancestral mound. The armwrestle: and after best out of 3 Bear wins in sudden death. Bear (and his tribe) is (are) sent on a quest in the Underdark to set free misformed Uthgard tribe members.
Rejoice people of the realm, the story of a father and his son is coming to an end…by the fists of his daughter! It all began this night in an dorms of an inn in Mirabar, hometown of Saga Amberfall. Here our strange concoction of friends are all huddled over a strange magical artifact which they will soon identify as a tuning fork to be used on a teleportation / planeshifting mirror of sorts sending them to another realm and to an ancient dwarven fortress. But before we walk down the long corridor to the fathers doom, let’s introduce the main characters in this end of ends. We have small but furious Gaige, the main focus of tonight. And next up there is Bear Moonmusk, a towering hulk of drooling non-awareness. H’arald Fornax full elementally, half piraty and make belief vampirism. Old man Peter Zonnestraal if you listen carefully and also if fail your perception check you can hear his joints squeek when he moves. Young Saga Amberfall on her broom-bomber and last but not least our invisible but ubiquitous DM who shall not be named.
Allright, back to the lang and dull hallway where Peter and Saga are entertaining their friends with knowledge about stone not worth noting and which won’t get you laid in any realm. Almost bored to death we enter the huge main hall of the fortress where we see a few displacer beasts, a portal of sorts which is being constructed by Grunswick Sr. Maybe due to the boredom of the long hallway, maybe some inherent personality traits afflicting judgement or maybe just due to the anguish of seeing her father Gaige storms in and starts hitting. She soon discovers the illusion surrounding him and meets the many magic eyes guarding him. Pummeling happily along she starts smashing the eyes who are wreaking havoc among her friends. Meanwhile Saga is dropping firebombs from her boom-broom, Peter is hastily hacking and wackin’ on a set of displacers beasts and then old age kicks in and he forgets how maces work… On a ledge high above his head sits a pidgeon, oh no its H’aroldabat! HISSSS! Tightly holding on to his bat-cape and his pirate-stockings he soars through the air dropping flame and Eldritch and strange froglike beasts on the battlefield. Bear drools.
After a diverse battle with many eye-magic effects Grunswick sr is cornered by the frog, a Saga-shaped ape and Gaige herself. Pummeling of the Sr. ensues and does not stop until his head is gooeyfied, and then Gaige hits him some more. And then, silence
The emptiness which all feel when a story ends fills all our harts, and however painful that may be, endings are always new beginnings. Like saying no to peanutbutter on your bread gives room for jelly, sprinkles or bananas. And if you like drawing outside the box add them together and you get bliss. Now Peter is drooling too.
Back to the fortress of goo and death which is now ours! The body is beheaded after a discussion about how to identify a gooey pulp to claim a bounty.
Accomplishments:
- Grunswick sr found and ended and looted
- Dwarven fortress in other dimension gained
- multiple more tuning forks found, yet to be examined
