Duni was a dwarf who had their soul bound to a knife and left in the faceless temple for centuries. Meant to curse its wielder, ended up in the hands of Shimyra Xil’tyl as a little prank from Impel. Immediately Duni was overwhelmed by Shimyra’s personality and the two started an uneasy friendship and became the main weapon of Shimyra. In no small part because Duni would refuse to allow Shimyra to wield anything else.
His past is largely lost to time, but Shimyra is pursuing it for his sake so he can pass on or at least find peace. Duni has been regaining his memories and gaining new abilities by collecting dark gemstones. However, things took a turn for the worse as he seemingly sacrificed himself to protect Shimyra from a powerful spellcaster. The sacrifice placed him into a coma. The party discovered that he was the leader of his clan back when he was alive and was sealed by the currently unnamed Big Bad. Duni it turns out was only a nickname and he didn’t like to share his real name.
When Shimyra found herself facing the ghost of one of his attempted rescuers during the Macabre Masquerade, Duni made his return and protected her from one of the ghost’s blows.
