Cairhien
Often called the Heart of Edar, Cairhien sits in the middle of Edar and is the most commonly travelled kingdom due to its central location. Cairhien is known to be one of the most stable nations in Edar, as it has maintained the same line of rulers for nearly 5,000 years. This is partially due to the Throne’s emphasis on ruling solely for the benefit of the people.
The King of Cairhien is known to regularly travel throughout his kingdom, visiting each major city and most sizable villages at least once per year, so that he can render his personal judgement on local matters. Because of his reputation for fairness and justice, the current King is extremely popular with the people of Cairhien, particularly its commoners. Cairhien is also the most populated kingdom in Edar, partially due to its immense swaths of arable farmland and resulting overabundance of food. Cairhien produces so much food that the monarchy often buys excess from its farmers just to give it to Nasaad as a gift. Because of this tradition, Cairhien and Nasaad have extremely good relations.
Cairhien is also home to the only Gnomish city in Edar, called Berelain, which serves as a gateway to Southern Nasaad. Cairhien is also home to the headquarters of the Pathfinders Guild, the international guild of archaeologists, adventurers, and mercenaries.
