Fairy Fountains and Springs
Great Fairies are few of the oldest beings in the world of Hyrule, only surpassed by ancient dragons and primordial deities. They’re often considered the “first children of Farore”.
There is a legend of a Fairy Queen, considered being the eldest Great fairy, but not even other Great fairies know her exact location, nor much spoken about her to their children
Their Fountains, places from which fey are born, take root in places of highly condensed magic. This magic allows the blooming fountain to blossom, and affect it’s surrounding area, spreading it’s fey influence even miles, slowly but surely.
First to be born from fountain is the Great Fairy, and her children follow, either from fountain’s flowers or surrounding, fey-influenced flora, such as fungy, shrubs, trees, and natural condensation of magic, like crystals and amber.
The fountains often take bloom in the forests, but they’re not limited by ordinary limitations of flora. They only require magic to bloom, thus the few rare Fairy Fountains found in caves, deserts, even frigid tundra. Only places of death and decay are locations no fountain can take root.
Finding a fairy fountain is not easy, often impossible without help from local fairy. The Concenrated magic, along with Great Fairy’s own magic and shaping of fountain’s surrounding area, hide the exact location of the Fountain fairly well, behind illusions and trickery.
What is easier, however, is to notice their influence in local area. Experienced travelers, trackers and adventures may be able to notice few stray fairies floating around, or take note on fey-touched fauna, flora and such in the area.
Most are wise to either leave fairies alone or leave offerings, like rupees or sweets like honey or milk, in exchange for a blessing.
Those in desperate straits might find themselves lost, but be guided directly to Fountain or outside of the fairy touched area, and receive aid or small trade.
Those looking for fairies in ill intent, might never bee seen again.
The waters of Fairy fountain are said to take those who delve deep into them into the Fairy Realm, but only Great Fairies and those they take with them know whats on the other side.
