Tabantha Frontiers
Northernmost country on Hyrule. Known for breezy summers, long lasting falls, thunderous plains and freezing winters. Home of Rito. Ruled by The Council of Elders.
Rito, aside for their Trade ports, have tighten their border and entrance laws on their continent, not allowing other nations to step in their territory without very strict permits. The fear of Malice, a dark mass of evil substance, the food shortages and Rito’s already rocky relations with Hylians has caused paranoia and hysteria among Rito towns and cities, as well as a major damage to Rito’s once fruitful lands as Malice spread.
With rise of Malice worshippers, cultists and distrust, Rito leaders have taken to themselves to separate their civilization limited seclusion. Due to Malice’s damage to their lands and it’s spread from eastern side, the hospitable land and resources are in scarcity. Rito have good relations with Gerudo, neutral relations with Goron’s and Zora, and negative relations towards Hylians.
Rito villages and their only real city, Dragon’s Roost are tall, towering stuctures, usually build on tall buttes or stone pillars in the northen regions, or large redwood trees in the southern region. They’re formed with multiple treehouse-like “Nest’s”, each circling and connected to each other via rope brigdes and ladders. Some create more room into their homes by digging into the stone or tree they live on, but these renovations are highly stricted and inspected so it would not weaken the whole structure of the village. Rito’s have strong bonds with each other, and life tightly knit communities
Villages are as scarce as are the resources within Tabantha and this has made many Rito conservative with their life style, both in their community and how they live within nature. “Take only what you need and do not waste what you have” is common motto. Many despise those who are greedy, selfish and disrespectful, especially those who harm the sanctity of the nature they live in. Those who constantly break these hospitaly rules are banished from the villages, and marked by specific method of each village (specific scar, unremovable paint or tattoo, etc) to warn other villages about trouble makers. This applies to Rito and other ancestries alike. Vagabonds and bandits are not uncommon sight in the wilderness of Tabantha.
North of Tabantha is usually always chilly, even in summer time. Most of the year the region is covered in snow, whether shallow or dense, depending on the time of year. the summer time is the only time the snow fully melts away for short period, the tundra’s of north sees some small greenery other than pine trees.
In south, the weather is warmer, but more temperament. Great hurricanes and plentiful thunderstorms make living in southern region its own challenge. Thundra basins has lot of wetlands and “thunder plains” and further down lie huge red wood forests of Heathlands. Most of food resources left in Tabantha are farmed and harvested here. Often visitors or immigrants from other continents are relocated around here, to help collect regions resources and help deliver them to rest of regions.
