14 Thunsheer 835
Reached Level 4
You awoke in the Unbroken Tusk Inn and spent the morning discussing the recently acquired Vestige and what to do next. Agreeing that a discussion with Benedict Guisser was necessary, you decided to start heading north to catch him in Trostenwold. Hopefully he would have some real insight or could connect you with the Cobalt Soul expedition he was hoping to meet with. It was decided that you would stop at the spires and explore the ruin for the meaning behind Amira and Applethorn’s visions.
Travelling through the jungle found an encounter with a huge T-rex, which aided in some of your lingering quests from the Nicodranas job board. Upon reaching the ruin, you discovered it was simply the doorway to an ancient temple beneath, a temple of Tharizdun, according to Amira’s previous research. The rooms were trapped and fortified against intrusion, though most of that seemed to be the work of Ioun scholars who attempted to deflect the temple’s original purposes as much as possible. As you journeyed deeper and deeper into the temple, it became clear that this purpose was to keep some dark power at bay, with apparent sacrifices to shadow creatures lurking in the dark.
In the second to last chamber, you found a ruined library left from the priests of this temple long ago which revealed that the power beneath is contained by the armor of two champions, one of the sea, and one of the land. This chamber also had a variety of treasure locked off the side. Entering the chamber where these champions lay, Della, Applethorn, and Amira touched their coffin and each recieved a vision of their greatest desires coming true and fueling their desire to open the coffin.
Eventually doing so, taking the armor and weapons for themselves, caused the coffin to disintigrate and the rifts in the floor to begin to widen as a huge, winged pit fiend pulled itself up, a chain around it’s torso and waist, screaming in Abyssal about returning the Oblivion to the Prime Plane. Closing a gate fortified by Ioun’s scholars protected you and strengthened Applethorn’s attack against the fiend, but you opted to run instead of fight (though Amira recieved a promise from her god that he would face the demon instead). Returning to the surface, you resealed the temple beneath the ground and, despite the tremble of the ground below, continued to journey North.
You trekked north to the edge of the Quoraska Jungle and made camp under the last bit of thick canopy and dense tree line of the jungle you’ve been traversing the last several days. You spend the evening attuning to the various gear retrieved from the tomb and then shared an uneventful watch through the night.
Player Notes
Where we face two hornets but they are way stronger so we escape the room. Next room is with orbs. Find out we need to step on three tiles and cover the orbs so the door doesn’t go away. Next room we have word puzzles and get a pump of special weapons. Last room, there is a tomb with the two champions. Amaria, della and applethorn have visions of really good stuff and we take the weapons, armor and cloths. Then a demon comes out and is held back slowly by the chains.
