On the fourth day of Trostenwald, the party awoke to find that Benedict had left to take care of business outside of town and asked Cassie to come along. Katerina had adamantly insisted she go with Benedict as well, the note said. So, Scrum, Della, Applethorn, and Amira spent the day exploring the city, after discussing a disturbing dream Amira had regarding Alyxian. While out and about in the city, they were approached by some Crownsguard, who escorted them to the office of Starosta Freyda Langer, the leader of Trostenwald who asked them to help her investigate the fire of the Wildewind’s field two nights ago. This took the majority of the day, but they returned to the Rusty Tankard to find Cassie and Katerina returned from their mission with Benedict and hanging out in the common room, Katerina playing cards while Cassie sat alone, recording in her journal when a call comes from across the room: “Ezekiel!”
Cassie is so focused, she barely recognizes the first call and it’s only with the second utterance, as the stranger pulls up a chair that she looked up to see a tall, yellow skinned Githyanki, toss themself into the chair across from her, calling her Ezekiel. The Githyanki asks what Cassie is doing here, as a strange, third voice provides her name: “Question…” Question, answering to the name, tells “Ezekiel” that she hasn’t seen him since they were Archivist’s together; last she heard, he was in Nicodranas, but that was three years ago.
Finding her voice, Cassie finally told her she wasn’t Ezekiel and exactly who she was instead. Question took it well, but needed a drink, giving Della the opportunity to follow her, invisibly to make sure she didn’t do anything shady, before joining her and Cassie at the table. Question said that she was here to meet Benedict and was previously with the Cobalt Soul and trained with Ezekiel, the original owner of Cassie and Stone’s current body. They were both in the Order and were promoted to Archivists in the Stacks at Rexxentrum. While Question left before she could be promoted to librarian, but a Provost in the Order, Sandrius Anguin, specifically chose to promote Ezekiel based on his work in the Stacks. It’s common that Provost’s engage in their own private research, which is probably why Question heard that Ezekiel was in Nicodranas, some three years ago. Now, Question is working with Telfan Industries on a digsite in Marquet, looking for a sunken battle site from the Calamity.
Torog the betrayer god in Amira’s nightmare. Also known as the crawling king.
There was also something about Avandra, the Change Bringer.
Della thinks that people who are Ruidius born who consume the Ruidium while Ruidius is visible become positioned (black veins) and die. This happened in Trostenwald a few years ago, though the cause of a few dozen people dying is not confirmed.
