LeClaire’s notes for Amira (opening the chests): Myriad wants to take over for Clovis shipping, found sign that the Myriad that working towards that. Could start a war with Clovis concord. Find in the letters is a fabrication (made up correspondence) make it look like the Myriad is trying to negotiate. Setting up the Myriad is plotting against Clovis Concord. Concerning to Amira but not surprising. Rowen is not on board.
You completed the journey to Port Dimali, with several frightened caravan campers in tow, happy to pay the heroes of last night’s shadow attack for protection. As you finsihed the journey, Katerina looked into The Luxon Beacon and saw the starry cosmos, but the stars turned into visions of your travel…and the various paths that await you. At the end, she gained a Mote of Possibility like Scrum did yesterday.
Meanwhile, Amira examined the chests found more closely, now loaded into the carts they arrived on, just with different drivers. With her connections to and knowledge of The Myriad, Amira deduced that whoever these items were being delivered to were going to strike against the Clovis Concord, as evidenced by a closer examination of the letters. These letters were clearly faked between the leadership of the Myriad and the Concord, setting up threats by the Concord that the Myriad were trying to deescalate. It’s the Myriad’s worst kept secret that their leaders want to take over the Concord’s trading routes and territory and it seems that who ever ordered these weapons were planning a rather powerful strike against the Concord. Regardless of what their original plan was, Amira thinks Rowan would find the information plenty valuable.
After securing lodging in The Beaded Alley at the King’s Bluff Inn, the party split up. Katerina, Scrum, and Cassie went west into The Cresents in search of information, while Della, Applethorn and Amira went South into the Larboard Light where Applethorn looked into ships heading East toward the Quoraska Jungle while Della and Amira met with Rowan in the Flowing Tap.
Cassie was able to leave a message at the Cobalt Archive to inform them of her quest and reuniting with Della in the hopes that an expositor or High Curator might be willing to weigh in on the issue with Katerina and Scrum’s brand. These hopes became even more necessary after visiting a temple of Pelor, the Dawnfather, where removing the curse through standard means was said to be impossible, due to the blood magic being too tied to their life force; removing it could also damage the very thing that keeps them alive. Their best hope is to do what the caster wishes or seek out stronger magic, most likely from another plane, found at a nexus between worlds. Alternatively, they could summon something, but that is incredibly unwise and more dangerous than the curse itself.
Della and Amira spoke with Rowan about the letters, only, keeping the knowledge of the weapons to themselves for now. Speaking vaguely, they inferred that they needed to find a mole in the Cerberus Assembly or a powerful magic to get them out of a deal. Rowan said that he could provide them with either in exchange for the letters and the leverage they provide. The Myriad and Assembly are full of individuals always looking for an oppotunity to get ahead; it would be simple to find someone willing to turn over an ally. But, that doesn’t mean you’re no longer indebted to the Assembly and, more often than not, doing what they wish just proves the value in keeping you under their thumb. Alternatively, Rowan has the lead on a powerful magical being who could be capable of removing the curse without an issue. Amira caught that Rowan was eager for this option to be explored, indicating he had more to gain from this choice and did not think he was lying. Finally, Rowan offered to pay them 150 gold for the letters and, if he did not hear from them by 12 tomorrow, he would send it to their room (which Della gave him).
Applethorn had the simplest, and most successful goal, finding several ships leaving for Port Zoon and Nicodranas in the next two days. Only one of these was a passenger ship, charging 3 gold per person for the three day journey.
You all returned to the Beaded Alley and shared your findings of the day over ales at the Married Glass pub, thankful for a rest even though you know more challenges await.
