Melkar
History
Melkar, nestled in the harsh [[Ashlands]] of [[Aurelia]], has a rich and storied history dating back centuries. The city was founded by the indigenous people of the region, known as the Ashenfolk, who were nomadic desert dwellers. They were drawn to this location due to its proximity to the life-giving waters of the Oasis of Serenity, which allowed for agriculture and settlement. Over time, Melkar evolved from a collection of nomadic camps into a thriving desert city.
As trade routes developed, Melkar became a hub for caravans traveling between the Arrowhead Mountains to the north and the Swamps of Il-Zur to the south. This strategic location brought wealth and prosperity to the city, which was built upon the foundations of Ashenfolk traditions and customs.

Government
Melkar’s government is a unique blend of traditional Ashenfolk tribal councils and a more modern administrative structure. The city is led by a council of elders, respected members of the indigenous tribes, who make decisions concerning the city’s welfare and policies. Alongside the council, there is a mayor who serves as a liaison between the indigenous population and any foreign visitors. This dual governance system aims to strike a balance between preserving tradition and welcoming outsiders.
